Well, the weather wasn’t very good yesterday and the temps in the valley were forecast to be rather low, so my partner decided she didn’t want to climb there, so no Yosemite this weekend. It turns out it was a good decision because my wife is sick anyway.
I’m not sure when I’ll get up to the valley, but it will probably be a kamikaze run (up and back in a day.)
Below is a picture from last week’s trip. I’m the one on the right in the tie-dye shirt. Our last climbs of the day were on the formation directly behind us. It’s taller than it looks because the bottom is obscured by the trees. 6 years ago

I went to Pinnacles National Monument with a guy I climb with at the gym. It was the first time I’ve lead outdoors while he belayed me. He did great and he even lead his first outdoor climb himself. It’s great to find another good climbing partner and I look forward to more great climbing trips with him.
I travel to Yosemite either Friday morning or Thursday night depending on my wife’s decision to blow off her Friday class. 6 years ago

I had plans to climb at Pinnacles National Monument this Saturday, but the weather looks like it won’t be cooperating. I’m going to wait until tomorrow to cancel the trip, but if it’s raining Thursday and Friday I’ll have to bag the trip. I’ve heard it’s not advisable to climb at Pinnacles after two days of rain.
I still have plans to climb the following Saturday 4/28 and then it’s off to Yosemite 5/4. 6 years ago

I went to one of my favorite local places, The Underworld at Castle Rock State Park with a couple of my gym climbing partners. We top ropped two 5.9’s, a 5.10a and a 5.10c. We went to another rock but didn’t climb there because we couldn’t find a way to the top to set up a top rope and it started to rain.
It was great to get outside. I was able to do the 9’s and the 10a without falling and only had trouble with one section on the 10c. I felt more comfortable on the rock than I did the last time I was there and I’m looking forward go getting outside again soon.
I’ve got plans to climb the weekends of 4/21, 4/28 and then I go to Yosemite the weekend of 5/4. I think I’ll try to visit some new areas on my next trips. I also hope to get down to Pinnacles National Monument the weekend of 4/21, but that depends on the weather and the availability of suitable climbing partners. 6 years ago

My wife would kill me if I injured myself climbing before our trip. Therefore, I won’t be climbing outdoors until March when we get back from Peru. I hope to take a couple of trips to Pinnacles and some of the local climbing areas as well before May rolls around and it’s time to go to Yosemite. 6 years ago

I just made reservations for camping in Yosemite valley the first weekend in May. I’m looking forward to getting on some great routes while I’m there. It’s been about four years since I’ve climbed in the valley, so I’m really looking forward to this trip. 6 years ago

I climb indoors about twice a week, but rarely get outdoors to climb. I got out to Pinnacles once and Castle Rock once this year. During 2007 I want to climb outdoors at least 12 times. I live just 3 1/2 hours from Yosemite and have good local climbing areas 45 minutes away.
For 2007 I intend to climb in the following areas:
Pinnacles at least twice
Yosemite Valley at least twice
Tuolumne at least twice
Castle Rock at least four times
Lover’s Leap at least once (I’ve never been there)
Owen’s River Gorge, Joshua Tree or Red Rocks at least once 6 years ago
