in studying whatever sword style if you don’t actually slice something. Tameshigiri means “test cutting” in Japanese.
Seems like I’m not bad at forms, but my sword isn’t effective—well, it is, but the hand fails more than it should, at this point. Which is not good, since I’d like to get my first dan next June.
So, while I will never learn all the Katori Shinto Ryu curriculum, I can still attain this goal.
Dear canes and bamboo mats… get worried.
