I was surprised with the arrival of a postcard from a stranger via postcardx – without any return address, just an unreadable signature.
I must say that this random act of kindness is REALLY COOL.

_….all wrapped up in one 3 X 5” card ! I personally find all kinds of postcards irresistable—from the artsy one’s sold in coffeshoppes, to picturesque images from places I ‘ve travelled, or just completely irreverent images i spot in various bookstores to incorporate into my journals & collages. Theyre Great pieces of americana &/or history.
i think in this country at least the earliest postcards were of family portraits (many of the only photos i have of my ancestors are on postcard stock), and i still never get over the thrill of either receiving or sending one when i’m on a journey…_

Some nice collectors even offered to swap postcards privately, outside the system :)
Currently having eight postcards sent. I’m excited to see what’s coming into my mailbox from now on.
You can accomplish this goal very quickly and easily by going to http://postcrossing.com. The goal of this project is to allow people to receive postcards from all over the world. The main line is: if you send a postcard, you’ll receive at least one back, from a random person/place on the world.
Why? Because, like the author, there are lots of people that like to receive stuff by mail. If you add to that, the surprise factor of receiving postcards from random places in the world that you probably never heard about, you can turn your mailbox into a little surprise box.
