Its about time we hav another family reuion. I love spending time with my family
How I did it: A year before the big event I coordinated with my Mom that we would all meet the following year for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. We had all the other family member commit to coming and gave them a full year to plan financially. It all worked out perfectly and was worth all the effort that was put into it.
Lessons & tips: Plan far in advance. If you schedule events that cost money make sure everyone know about the events so that they can plan financially. Be aware of special needs (medical or otherwise) and be open to others input as to what they would like to accomplish during the reunion.

I have a large family and we’re scattered throughout the US from NY to CA. The burden of planning has always fallen upon a “chosen” few and it’s about time they get some help. So I will volunteer this year for the task and provide some much needed relief to my cousins. I wrote a blog post at http://familyreunion.spendji.com discussing some of the pointers that I received from friends and family for planning such an event.

I want a family reunion so that we may introduce the younger ones to their ancestors and also their cousins.
Maybe at my sisters’ graduation next year, but my brother will have to miss it. Then when my brother is free, my sisters will probably all be job-bing. Dude, is this ever going to happen? How? I want to at least see my brother. In fact, I want to live with him. I’m a good teacher/role model and I need to not live alone. If only I could get a job in Spain or France, then I could have him go to school there and live with me.

Such a large family and so little time to visit. My mom has been married 4 times, and is with her 5th like long boyfriend. And my dad has been married 3 times, and is still with his 3rd marriage of 15 years of there abouts. I had the privilege of living with all of these married atrocity’s.
Well I saw a bunch of relatives, and most of them were fairly old. However, I got a hold of a family tree chart from my Grandma’s side and I have started to create a more detailed family tree online. I think it’ll be useful to know family at some point in the future. Plus, I found out that I have a distant relative who is named “Maximus!”
I finally met a couple of my uncles recently that I haven’t seen for 10 years. So, it was a mini reunion. There will be a bigger one in 2 weeks….hope all goes well knowing that family can have their “differences”... hahaha. But, it’s nice to see them once in a while.
Getting family together can be stressful but is worth the time and effort put in to the organization.
