Find a good doctor

Yesterday I met another resident, and she is awsome. There is a different resident working every day of the week; so far I like both Tuesday and Wednesday. (I haven’t met the residents for the other days.)

This is the first time I’ve been to a doctor and felt confident that she knows what she’s doing. But what’s even better is that she listens to what I’m saying and takes me seriously. I’m very happy with this clinic.

Well, I’ve had that appointment on May 20 (this was just to meet the doctors and ask questions about the clinic). I met a resident, and I liked her. I only saw the overseeing physician for a minute, so I haven’t really had time to decide what I think of her.

FYI; this is a clinic at a teaching hospital, so patients are normally seen by a resident, unless they specifically ask for the doc. That’s fine by me; I prefer the resident.

I’ve been looking for a new doctor for a while, since I don’t like the one I have. It took two weeks just to find a clinic that’s accepting new patients. I also found out that some clinics have boundries, and they only accept patients from within their geographic area.

Anyway, I found a potential doctor, but we haven’t met yet, so I don’t know if I found a good one or not. We shall see. (appointment on May 20)

there are literally no doctors taking new patients in my town.
i had one, the only one taking patients when we moved here. he moved out of the province without telling his patients or making any effort to set us up with someone else. so there’s a bunch of doctorless people. i’m sick of having to go to the ER for something trivial like a prescription renewal. i haven’t had my thyroid checked in years (supposed to go every 6 months to a year)
there’s no walkin clinic.

I got several recommendations to local family doctors. I now have a PPO insurance which makes it easier. The first step is to make an appointment.

I had a pretty bad cold this week – which seems to have attacked me and everyone else. I need to find a general practioner and stop waiting ‘til I’m sick.

I need to find a general practioner that I like and trust. I love my dentist, orthodontist, dermatologist, eye doctor and gyno.
I haven’t had the same luck finding a general doctor. The last one I went to had a unpleasant staff and then she rushed me through the entire visit – she only had one other patient waiting.
