I am really intimidated by numbers!! I feel as though I am right on the edge of understanding everything and then, my mind goes blank as soon as I see the test and the only thing I know for sure is how to spell my name!! I only get 2 tries to pass math here in GA. IF I fail both times then I can not come back for 3 years…ouch!! Any ideas are appreciated!! ;-)
How to pass my math class
How I did it: I have a pretty severe math disability, I've always struggled intensely with even basic math. Once I got to college I placed out of my degree math into a lower section which took place 5 days a week and I had to pass it in order to get to the class I had to pass to graduate. I bombed the first three tests. The teacher was insane, requiring around 3 hours of homework every single day. How'd I do it?
- worked my ass off
- always did my homework
- after failing 3 tests, I continued to try my hardest
- the weekend before tests was a math weekend
- talk to the teacher! mine helped me a tremendous amount!
It was hell on earth. I cried many tears countless times. But hey, I passed.
Lessons & tips: Never, never, never give up. If you don't get it, do it again, read it again, try again.
Your greatest enemy is doubt, you can always do more.
Resources: My textbook, studying with others and occasional tutoring.

OMG OMG OMG!! I DID IT!! I failed the written exam but could make up for it if I passed the oral exam with flying colours… And although it seemed like an impossible task, I did an awesome job… I was lucky enough to get “easy” questions (I happened to read up on that part right before I walked into the classroom) and I guessed a lot, but who cares… I DID IT!!!

By far the lowest grade I’ve gotten here at Wake, and I am certain I didn’t deserve it. I think the professor took pity on me. But I’m ok with a pity grade

We got back our mid-terms last week, and it was not pretty… I failed, and miserably. Not a surprise. However, I have been working really hard: attending every class, taking extensive notes, doing all of my homework, and even having a tutor. Luckily he’s letting us do test corrections, which is just unheard of around these parts. I’m looking into getting a tutor who is a littler more experienced with the material than my current one, hopefully that will work out, and I’ll improve significantly this last week of the class (5 weeks of class in summer session). It doesn’t help that I’m also taking Anthropology and I work two jobs.

I go to Wake Forest University, and I decided to take Math 107 – Explorations in Mathematics for summer session 1 and my math/science requirement. However, it is abysmally hard, with an overload of homework. I am starting to get really worried about what my grade will be like. The midterm is next week and it’s scaring me so bad. I even have a tutor, do all my homework, and sometimes I think I’m getting it… but I still worry.
At least my prof is nice
we had our first test which was pretty basic but since i don’t test well, i’m giving myself a pat on the back for getting a 97%!!!
Well the first week of classes is over and I have done all of the math homework due, go me, I stayed after class and talked with my professor and tried to explain my situation and he gets it. He said he is going to work extra hard with me, bless him haha but its going great…so far haha!
Right now my mark is somewhere in the 40’s. I’ve been going to a math tutor twice a week and trying to do an hour of review each night. However, wanna be at least at a 50 by the time i go in for my exam. Since my semester is over at the end of January i only have a few weeks to complete this goal.
My final exam was a week ago.
I hope I pass it with a B. If I get a B it’s sure I won’t have to study in vacations … If I get a C I don’t know if I’ll pass the asignature. Wish me some luck!
