Me and my best friend are 14 and we both really love to write. So we started co writing an original fantasy novel together. The genre is not the traditional “Elves and Sorcerors”, it has more of a sci-fi spin to it. While swords and magic are still involved, guns and hover bikes are incorporated into it too. We’re having tons of fun with the story and characters, and having my best friend doing it too is really encouraging. We hope to finish draft 1 by the end of 2OO9 this year.
The book so far is 52 pages long.

Books are great and all, but it’s getting hard to find a really, REALLY good one. The library doesn’t have everything and it gets expensive to buy them. Not to mention you can’t exactly sit around for an hour reading the first three chapters to see if it’s what you want or not.
Just gotta get around to writing… I have so many ideas and yet can’t fit enough together to make anything substantial and can never actually get myself to start writing anything.

I’ve intended to do this since reading LOTR in 1978. I’ve reread that some twenty times since, but only written about 100 pages of my own. I like what I’ve written so far. I’m pretty annoyed with myself for putting this aside.

I really want to write a book about gifteds and vampires. The problem is, once I think i have all my characters down and their personalities, i get another great idea and it ends up messing up the plot so I have to twist the plot so it makes sense. Then i get another cool idead and it just goes on forever. Also I can’t decide what to do with my Character’s personalites without making them have a lot of things in common or without them seeming perfect.
i need help.

Full Draft!
I finished the draft of my dark fantasy novel (actually this is a second draft, but the first didn’t have an ending- this one does). The book stands at almost 100k words. It took me a full year to get to this point. I’m not ticking this goal off yet, because I am not done – need to send out to beta readers, revise, polish, and then query.
It’s been a very frustrating process – alternating between immense pleasure and complete despair. I have no idea how I didn’t give up on the book. But I’m very happy it’s complete. All kinds of things can be done with a full draft, whereas an incomplete draft is the worst thing in the world, imho.

I’ve been working on my novel for several months. I haven’t started writing yet, because I’ve been laying down the plot/storyline, building people, items, and places, and ironing out flaws and kinks in the timeline and plot. But the hardest part for me is actually writing the story. I have a great work of art in my hands, ready to be painted on a blank canvas for the world to view, yet I don’t know where to start. It’s actually kind of a complicated issue. I’ve laid the overall groundwork for the plot but how do I write the actual story, like conversations, and small actions (such as doing homework)? Do I improvise these small things as I go along, or do I plan out every minor detail in the story. It would please me to no end to hear another persons opinion on this subject. I hope to finish this by my 12th grade year. I guess I ave two years left on my hands…

This is really weird, but it’s actually happening. I am on the second draft of my novel, completed about 40% of it… We’ll see how it goes.

My fantasy book is coming along but I’m now doing some research to make sure I’m not stealing anything.
