I’ve been working for the last 6 weeks, pretty much solid, and have saved up a good chunk of money. I’m going down in the Baja as soon as work’s over, should be the first part of November. I’m really looking forward to it. I haven’t been out of the country in quite some time, and really am looking forward to the opportunity to improve my Spanish and travel. I may hitch with some other folks, or just go solo. Time will tell, for certain. 4 years ago

some things were bad about this trip back to Mexico again. The people were a mix, and how can you blame them. The influx of tourists must be difficult to handle. The vacation was terrible and there was little of interest to do on the Yucatan penninsula…
but the language… the language was awesome. I am terrible at languages, but I love them so much. The people south of Cancun speak excellent english, but far more of them than in Puerto Villarta don’t speak english or speak very little. They had fun with me learning spanish and after a couple of days, many of them would only speak to me in Spanish, even some of the best english speakers. I loved this.
So, goal complete, but I feel like I need to do this again and again. Not the family vacation though, although the kids loved the sun and the pools, so that was great for them. I want to explore more of Mexico, not get served the tourist Mexico. I can probably do this as part of the saving the world goal, so I will be considering this goal done, but I will add it back as another do again goal. 5 years ago

I’ve really been gearing up for Mexico, but for the last 3-4 days I’ve had visions telling me not to go. I’m on the U.S. – Mexico border, down in Brownsville, but I think I’m going to do something else. If I’ve learned anythings, it’s to trust my intuition. This is bizarre though, I was really looking forward to seeing a lot of people I know way down south. Another time, perhaps. 5 years ago

about this time last year to spend several months in Central America, and then just passed through Mexico again on the way back to the states. It was really kind hitch hiking through, I wasn’t sure what to expect prior to that. I just left my parents house after visiting for nearly 2 months for the holidays (make mom happy). I can’t express how much good it did my soul to be out walking the highways of this country, under a big, blue, open sky. I walked probably 15 miles the other day, plus all the hitching, and made it to my cousin’s house in Texas. Visiting for a few days and letting my feet rest up (they’ve gotten soft again), and then I’ll be off to Mexico. 5 years ago

but I am on for a trip to the Mexican Riviera with the family in March. Trip is booked. I had meant go back there with the intent of making the world better, but I love Mexico, so this counts too. 5 years ago

Mexico would be cheaper to get to than Costa Rica. And my parents might do a cruise down to PV; we could meet them there. Yeah, it’d be touristy, but it would also be relatively low-stress and fun.
I have enjoyed all my trips to Mexico, whether I was volunteering, being a backpacking-style traveller, or playing tourist. I love the spirit of the Mexican people – we’re lucky to have this country as our neighbor to the south. 6 years ago
