get back into photography

Last night while I was cleaning out a cabinet in my house, I found and went through my portfolio boxes from some of my college photography classes. (I have a degree in photography.) I think that the pictures I took when I knew I was leaving (both the town and the field of fine art photography) were the most interesting, and for the first time I wondered if I was missing something by shrugging off photography to pursue other related interests. It’s time to find out.

I got a new camera so I’m starting this!!

I’m gonna buy a digital SLR! Finally, after pondering for so long I figured I have a month off in April, so I can spend the time getting familiar with the camera (and hopefully save a big of money because it’ll stop me going shopping when i’ve got nothing to do). A digicam is about ¥40k for the best ones, and I can get a base model Nikon (looking at D60) for ¥60k plus 2 lenses, so that’s what it’s going to be. I was always tossing up over the safety and weight factor when travelling, but I just don’t care anymore. Everyone else seems to manage.

Photography became a passion of mine several years ago, to the point that I had the goal of having my own show. I’m not sure what happened, but I just stopped taking pictures. I’m realizing now that it is something I truly miss- that creative outlet was important to my daily well-being.

I took a few photography classes in high school that really got me interested in this. I haven’t touched my ancient Canon AE-1 in about a year, and I feel like its about time I stop neglecting it. There’s just something so awesome about capturing that perfect picture. :]

I didn’t until I got a better camera (Canon Rebel xTi) because my pictures had been turning out shitty before and I didn’t realize that it was the camera, not my photography skills, that needed improvement…

Photography is my favorite hobbies. I love to capture priceless moments in time. I recently put my old computer in my room, so I can put the millions of pictures I take on there and not use up all my camera chips.
