Build a home office

Have been planning to build a separate room in my house which will serve as my home office. Want to have a large library, music system, Large work table and if possible a fire place.

I’ve mostly worked at home for 10 years..but it shows. Yikes. So I’m using build in a kind of metaphorical way.

I can’t decide if I want a free-standing desk stuck in the middle of the room or if I want a full California Closets style wall unit. I’m leaning toward the wall unit, but I’ll have to save up for it. Also, it kind of makes the room an office forever, which could hurt resale since we’d be losing a bedroom.

Finished installing the shelving. Also got a small fridge for this and this and maybe some of this (although it’s better in the freezer).

Got some Elfa shelving at the Container Store and started installing it. Wonderful stuff. I’m going to name my next child Elfa. Or maybe a dog. Unfortunately in order to finish I need to shorten the top piece by about 3 inches. And I can’t find the grinder. It’s probably buried somewhere in the storage unit.

Done and done.

Today I went to Home Depot and bought two very energizing orange paint buckets.

I have no idea how the room will be decored.. but decided that Orange is the way to go with the creative spot.

So far I like the desk set up available at West Elm.
I don’t have access to their furniture (they don’t ship to PR) but I want to find that similar style of furntiture.

I want a natural and mimimalist look.

I’m inclined to switch from PC to Mac, and buy the Powerbook 12” along with a wide screen 21” from Samsung (MAC’s is way too expensive!!)

I already bought some very nice organizers for paper stuff.
