Think before doing - horses are not pets 13 months ago

Learn everything you can before buying a horse. Find someone who will mentor you and answer the millions of questions you will have.

Lease before buying if possible – it will give you and the horse a chance to make sure you’re compatible, and you will know if you’re really into the responsibility ownership.

Be ready to spend a LOT of money. Horses and horsekeeping is a very expensive hobby, but well worth it!

Okay so I have two horses, and I love them to death… okay so technically they are not MINE (they are actually family horses), but I love them the very same. They are both sweet, and mild tempered. I don’t ride them much, but that is only because they are not really riding horses, they are more of pet horses. They eat alot, and they LLLOOOVVVEEE to jump over the gate to get to the fresh grass on the other side. We actually had to electrify the fence to keep them on the correct side…lol. It doesn’t hurt them, and they learned their lesson quickly. I love them both ssssssssssooooooo much, and I don’t know what I would do without them.

Having a horse is great, but ONLY if you spend time with it! The more you get to know your horse the more you will trust it and the more it will trust you.

FunnySunny is behind bars. needs to get ready for work. (I'm supposed to be there is 38 minutes)

I'm giving up on this 2 years ago

but not because I decided I don’t like horse. I still love horse. I just realize that it isn’t a pratical goal right now. 1) We live in a city. 2) I know nothing about the care that horses need. 3) I don’t even know how to saddle a horse. 4) My hubby is highly allergic to horses. (Eyes swell shut, can’t breath. That type of thing.)

Not what you think 2 years ago

Owning a horse was not as great as I thought it should’ve been. Mainly due to financial reasons. After a bad accident and an unexpected pregnancy I was forced to give up my horse. The experience was not worth it. It felt all too tradgic.

My dream would be to live in a little shack on a deserted island with perfect waves all day, some nice guitars, and a horse for companionship….. bliss

*Hucul Horses* 3 years ago

A few weeks ago I was spending time in Polish mountains (Beskid Niski) and I discovered really great place for horse riding, Gładyszów and Regetów – two villages where you can find the biggest stable in Europe with Hucul horses (a special mountain breed). I was in seventh heaven and I will certainly go there back. I recommend!!!

So I have a goal for this. The camp I worked at tries to send the horses off every winter because they don’t take care of them in the off-season but most of them stay there anyway. I’d like to go to grad school at Slippery Rock in two years (year and a half really) so my plan is to take one of the horses with me when I actually am in the region and can find a place to keep it. Hold on two more years Shelby!!
