How I did it: Got drunk one bored afternoon when it was so humid and tropical rain was bucketing down, so I stood under the shower and shaved the edges and then a little more and a little more. My mum was so pissed off when she asked how I was planning to get a job looking like that and I said 'I guess I don't' she grabbed what was left of my hair and smacked my face on the kitchen table.

I shaved my head and then let it grow back into a mohawk! It was the coolest thing I’ve ever had on my head. My mom hated it, but after it was done there was nothing she could do about it. It’s all grown out now, but i’m thinking about doing it again.

My parents hated it, but I did it! It was really fun…a little high maintainance, but totally worth it. It made me want to be friends with everyone else in Seattle who has a mohawk!

I was, oooh, 19, 20? I had army boots, stripy tights, a doggy on a string, and dreadlocks, and I got my boyfriend to shave them down the sides into a dreadlocked mohawk.
