so many years ago I conducted a Science Fair project on the effects of music on our health. I got an A on that project but many people were very skeptical…that was many years ago.
Today they find that music connects people to their lives and helps them recover from devastating trauma and illness…so why not use the music I love to motivate me to be healthier?

_ In a recent study of 13,500 people, those who climbed up and down about 100 steps a day reduced their risk of death by nearly 20%. This reduction is equivalent to walking about 2 miles a day and is equal to the calorie burn of a 30 minute brisk walk, so pass up the elevator for the stairs._

are linked to being active everyday. I have taken that for granted in the past. So from today forward I will do the things I love to do – ride bikes, play tennis, swim…
basically just live my life to the fullest!

and I have become estranged since moving. He was underfoot 24/7 in our one bedroom condo. We took many walks each day. That was healthy for both of us.
Now we have a backyard area for him. We bring him in when it rains but otherwise I don’t see him much any more.
He and my significant other take walks around the neighborhood.
Maybe I’ll start joining them.

when I think of it.
Maybe I should schedule exercise for very first thing in the morning like at 6.
When I was younger a friend and I met every morning at 5:30 for a 2 mile run/walk around the neighborhood before getting our boys off to school. It was a fun way to start the day. We kept each other motivated. We did that an entire school year.
Now my friends are so stressed they get up late, run to work and hit happy hour to unwind…totally different lifestyle.
Wish I had a walking/exercise friend again…

It is Friday and I have not exercised since last Sunday.
I am totally red faced ashamed of my lack of commitment to my health and well being…
Maybe I should join a gym for motivation and accountability.

Today I walked to the Dairy Queen to get a Blizzard. I fantasized about it’s rich ice creamy banana cream flavor all the way there… It is a mile one way ,up and down gently rolling hills, to the DQ from our home.
I felt so good about my walk once I got there I chose a lemonade instead. It was delightfully fresh and quenched my thirst as I walked the mile back home.

I hiked as a child.
Rudy and I have been walking around our beautiful neighborhood in Dallas. We spend some of our time on the Katy Trail. Actually, we couldn’t ask for a prettier neighborhood for walking in this concrete jungle and yet . . .
it does not have that clean fresh air and majestic views I always took for granted.

Every Spring I have an awakening of refreshed intention to be healthier and fit by summer.
In the past I would join a gym – go a few times and then for whatever reason (er excuse) I would stop going and say tomorrow I will be there at 6 am.
Ha! The alarm would ring at 5 am and the snooze button dance would begin.
This year (the year of no excuses) I am being much more cautious in my zealousness.
Before I rush out and join a gym or class I am going to take some time to explore the things I enjoy before I commit to spending my money. Many can be done for free!
Maybe to shake things up a bit I could teach Rudy to play tennis!

Since my SO hasn’t been feeling well this week the duty of walking Rudy has fallen to me.
Walking is excellent exercise for both of us.
Actually we have had alot of fun exploring the neighborhood on our doggie walks. Everyday we meet new people.
People love him. They stop and talk to him as if I’m not even there. “Aren’t you handsome. What’s your name?”
Like he’ll have a conversation with them like Brian on Family Guy.
