sing karaoke in a bar

My roommate and I found a random shabby bar about 70 miles from our rinky dink college town and decided to go sing karaoke there last night!

We were both really nervous, and actually used fake names (just in case).

But once we got up there we had the time of our lives! I am so glad we decided to go!

Sang Karaoke together on the Cruise Ship.

We did her fav, The Beatles.

So I told you about Fishnet, Silverfox, MC, Seal,and stunt double.
So far the mood was very upbeat, lively and fun! OMG! This old hippy momma comes on and starts singing this downer song, I look over at Nutty and I’m like,”hey ,man pass me the weed will ya…” This kid next to us(the one in the photo) just looks at us like “what the heck is this $h!+” I said, “They should have a sign that reads 65 and under,” Flipflops is from Northern California and is there with his 2 buddies and is staying at the Hermosa Beach Youth Hostel. I asked him what he was going to sing, he would not tell us, only that is was the corny ‘80’s. I said,”Hey, don’t make fun of the ‘80’s, I was hanging out at Punk Clubs in OC when I was 15 and Nutty was climbing out of windows in Belgian when she was 15. He told us he would break into cars, take the change & cigarettes.I said, you lived in No. CA, you were bored. He said he believed in Karma because one time this car didn’t have anything “good” in it so he and his buddy pee’d in it. Now he has a Jeep without a top and FOUR times cats have pee’d on the DRIVERS seat LOL! I asked if he was all dressed and ready to go to work, he said,”Of course!” We ROFLOL!!! His buddies got him wasted and gave him a shot on stage right before the song. I made Nutty, his buddies and the girls they were talking to get up on the dance floor to be his “groupies” He sang “I want you to want me” by Cheep Trick I high fived him when he got off stage. I told Nutty “He won’t remember any of it tomorrow but his buddies will let him know what happened ;)
This heavy metal goth rocker guy oh lordy! He came on right after hippy momma. He starts in on the song about ripping the flesh from my bones and death and on and on. The MC was in the back like WTF?!? and holds the mike to his head like a gun! I’m sitting there OMG No not two in a row! So I get up and start slam dancing! We look at me, I’m the mosh pit! This song just goes on and on so I get up and stage dive WEEE! More slam dancing, the MC pretends to stage dive and I pretend to catch him!I make punk faces and give them the index finger ;) Nutty comes out, moshing for two! Come keep it going clock wise! Song is talking about having dirt thrown on his dead carcass and on.. Time for a back flip stage dive/ Oh, too bad the music stopped! And all that in 4inch heals, bow , bow,thank you very much :D

My b-day is 3-21 and the Nutty Belgian’s is 3-19, so we always go out for our birthday together, but it takes some time to get it coordinated. Well she is moving this month so it was now or never!
We had dinner and then went to the Lighthouse Cafe, the Pier Plaza is very quiet on Monday night and their is ample parking(free meters after 10, read it to make sure) There was no cover charge and they had Well Drinks for $3 & other specials(The MC joked it took $12 in gas to get down here ,so we give you a break on drinks)
We sat at the bar and I told the fishnet bartender girl “I’ll have a cape cod well drink” Nutty said “Something with Rum?” I said “Get a diet coke and rum”, she liked it :)
Fishnet asked if we were going to do Karaoke, we said we never have, so she told us what to do. I picked out Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, by Cyndi Lauper. I figured we could just yell it, have fun, then bolt!
The first person up was “The Silver Fox” an older gentleman and he sang a hip hop song that talk about cars, girl and slapping that @$$(hi stacey)He was more American idle in the beginning episode then the final ones, but boy he was having fun! I look at Nutty, we can do this!
The MC ran up to me and sticks to microphone in my face and asks,”What song do you want my buddy to sing!?” I just shake my head he goes over to the table and does the same thing to a girl with long dark hair and says “Let’s ask your stunt double!” So I say,”Something by Seal?” The black bald guy looks at me and says,”Now why would you say that?” OMG! I was SO RED! My “stunt double” said, Something smooth and slow so he did a great job of a Marvin Gaye song.
We did our song. It was hard to hear yourself, but we just had fun. Fishnet took the pic. The MC and “Seal” sang our back up while we dance totally ‘80’s during the melody part.
We stayed only for about 2 hours and left at 11:00pm, as we were heading out the door the
“Silver Fox” saw me and said,”NO, You can’t leave,You are the life of the party!”
Me-Dude, EVERY Where I go is a party.
Me- I told him it was a school night.
SF- “Oh, you’re a teacher?”
Me-LOL! No, My kids have school and I have to get up with them.
SF-I’m a recovering Karaoke addict so I only go out 2 night a week. Here on Monday Nights and Wednesday at Mickey Fins in Redondo Beach.
Me-This was our first time.
SF-Oh,You have to come back.
Me-I’ll try. It was fun. Bye Bye.

at the world famous Lighthouse cafe. The nutty Belgian and I have a Date to sing Karaoke. I have never done this nor have I ever seen this done.(only in the movies)I’m thinking that the songs I may do are:

Have our Birthdays on day apart so we are going to go out to Karaoke.

my two best friends to go with me. And they are big wimps! My dd said she would go with me! The trouble is she is only 10 years old.

So I went karaoke singing with my friends and after getting some nerve up I got up and sang my signature song “Black Velvet” by Alannah Myles….I wasn’t half that bad either :)

I have a signature song and it’s Black Velvet. I sang it at Karaoke at my friends church and got raving reviews. I just love to sing :)

I’m a chair Karaoke singer. I sing with everyone, from my chair. I want to take the mic and sing like I’m alone in the room and I want to sing well!
