~ John Lee ~ setting my sights lower so I can set them higher

Reflection 3 years ago

I’m surprised that such a powerful figure of the 20th Century has received only a footnote of coverage in the American media. We should be reflecting not only on PW Botha, but on Apartheit, and how easy it is for people to be seduced into the culture of blame and hate.

Here in the States, illiegal immigrants (translation Hispanics) are being blamed for every social ill from crime to poor schools to health care.

At Service today I will be praying for PW Botha, and that we may learn from his misguided ways and not repeat them here in America.

“Thousands were detained without trial during PW Botha’s presidency, while others were tortured and killed. However, he refused to apologise for apartheid. In an interview to mark his 90th birthday he suggested that he had no regrets about the way he ran the country.” (from Wikipedia)

Refused to apologise…no regrets… and now less than 12 months later he’s dead.
Fuck him.
I hope he’s being detained without trial wherever he is today
