How I did it: It was a fluke... husband got a job here. But, I think finally after 10 years, I'm starting to adjust. Actually, funny thing was when I was a kid I used to play with a globe and spin and stop it randomly.. one day, I said wherever this stops, one day I will live there. It landed on Hawaii. Talk about fate. Read how I did it…
How I did it: My mom, her bf, and I moved to the Big Island when I was almost 14. I started High School there and it changed me for the better. I have just been very lucky in my travels. Read how I did it…

I went to visit a friend in Honolulu last January. I was only there for a week and half but I’ve never felt more at home anywhere in my life. I cried when I came back to Maryland. It was snowing and I got sick. In Hawaii I didn’t so much as sniffle or sneeze. It’s been a little over a year and I still feel like I left a piece of me behind. It was sooo beautiful. I know it’s expensive and everything, but I’m going to have to find a way to live there at least for a year or so at some point in my life.
I live in one of the coldest states in the US, its -24 degrees outside LITERALLY. Hawaii is a dream of mine.

I wanted to live in Hawaii my whole life. I’ve done research, and I’m cool with everything. The volcanos and everything. Its really the water that attracts me the most, I’m not even gonna lie. I wanna go to hawaiian pacific unvi. for my collage. I really do its my dream. I’m going there once I leave high school. lol I cant wait.
Active volcanoes, snow-capped mountains, lava tubes, waterfalls. The list goes on …
I lived near Kona on the Big Island. And in Kihei on Maui. Get a car if you can, at least for a drive around the islands. Mind-blowing landscapes.

depends on where you live and which islands. there is some very very unfriendly localized areas which i would not condone living in. However with that said- I HAVE lived there, Big Island HIlo town. very very difficult and expensive, but utterly life changing.

DrWood asks,
“Hi, so I am moving to Hawaii, I'll stay with friends on Oahu at first, but I am considering settling on Maui - I'll be teaching - so I am curious about the schools on Maui, and the local campus (I was an adjunct prof for a while at a University here)”
