Some Girls Do
by Sawyer Brown
written by unknown
song number: 83
youtube link: unavailable

She turned up her nose as she walked by my cadillac
From the corner of my eye I saw you and you laughed
You were sittin’ on the swing on your fron porch
Paintin’ your nails like you were bored
And you yelled “She was sure impressed with you”

Well I ain’t first class
But I ain’t white trash
I’m wild and a little crazy too
Some girls don’t like boys like me
Aww but some girls do

I yelled and asked if you would like a ride
When we pulled out of your yard I balled a tire
You was laughing at me, I was doing James Dean
You was the prettiest girl I’d ever seen
When you rolled your eyes and twirled my pink fur dice

Well I ain’t first class
But I ain’t white trash
I’m wild and a little crazy too
Some girls don’t like boys like me
Aww but some girls do

Well good ole’ boys don’t get no breaks
And rich boys think they got what it takes
But there’s someone for each of us they say

Well I ain’t first class
But I ain’t white trash
I’m wild and a little crazy too
Some girls don’t like boys like me
Aww but some girls do
Well I ain’t first class
But I ain’t white trash
I’m wild and a little crazy too
Some girls don’t like boys like me
Aww but some girls do

I said some girls do
You know some girls do
Like boys like me
You know some girls do

Let Them Be Little
by Lonestar
written by Richie MacDonald and Billy Dean
song number: 82
youtube link: unavailable

This one is so appropriate right now

I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand
Felt so good in it, no bigger than a minute
How it amazes me, you’re changing with every blink
Faster than a flower blooms they grow up all too soon

So let them be little ‘cause they’re only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

I’ve never felt so much in one little tender touch
I live for those kisses, prayers and your wishes
Now that you’re teaching me things only a child can see
Every night while we’re on our knees all I ask is please

Let them be little ‘cause they’re only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

So innocent, a precious soul, you turn around
It’s time to let them go

So let them be little ‘cause they’re only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

Let them be little

Don’t Take the Girl
by Tim McGraw
written by Craig Martin and Larry Johnson
song number: 81
youtube link: here

How did I miss this one…?!

Johnny’s daddy was taking him fishin’
When he was eight years old
A little girl came through the front gate holdin’ a fishing pole
His dad looked down and smiled, said we can’t leave her behind
Son I know you don’t want her to go but someday you’ll change your mind
And Johnny said “Take Jimmy Johnson, take Tommy Thompson, take my best friend Bo
Take anybody that you want as long as she don’t go
Take any boy in the world
Daddy please don’t take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Ten years down the road
He held her tight and kissed her lips
In front of the picture show
Stranger came and pulled a gun
Grabbed her by the arm said “If you do what I tell you to, there won’t be any harm”
And Johnny said “Take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards
Here’s the watch that my grandpa gave me
Here’s the key to my car
Mister give it a whirl
But please don’t take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Five years down the road
There’s going to be a little one and she says it’s time to go
Doctor says the baby’s fine but you’ll have to leave
‘Cause his momma’s fading fast and Johnny hit his knees and there he prayed
Take the very breath you gave me
Take the heart from my chest
I’ll gladly take her place if you’ll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
God, please don’t take the girl

Johnny’s daddy
Was taking him fishin’
When he was eight years old

This is pretty sad – I always wondered what really happened at the end… Does she die? My theory was that she doesn’t because the baby is a boy. Storytelling would indicate that had the baby been a girl, she would have died so that the father would have someone so like his wife to remember her by, but the baby is a boy… so I guessed that she did live.

The video shows what happens.

Dust on the Bottle
by David Lee Murphy
written by David Lee Murphy
song number: 71
youtube link:here

Creole Williams lived down a dirt road
Made homemade wine like nobody I know
Dropped by one Friday night and said can you help me Creole
Got a little girl waitin’ on me and I wanna treat her right

I got what you need son, it’s sittin down in the cellar
He reached through the cobwebs as he turned on the light and said

There might be a little dust on the bottle
But don’t let it fool ya about what’s inside
There might be a little dust on the bottle
It’s one of those things that gets sweeter with time

She was sittin in the porch swing as I pulled up the driveway
My ole heart was racing as she climbed inside
She slid over real close and drove down to the lake road
Watched the sun fade in that big red sky

I reached under the front seat and said, now here’s something special
It’s just been waiting for a night like tonight

There might be a little dust on the bottle
But don’t let it fool ya about what’s inside
There might be a little dust on the bottle
It’s one of those things that gets sweeter with time

You’re still with me, and we’ve made some memories
After all these years theres one thing I’ve found
Some say good love, well it’s like a fine wine
It keeps getting better as the days go by

There might be a little dust on the bottle
But don’t let it fool ya about what’s inside
There might be a little dust on the bottle
It’s one of those things that gets sweeter with time

I’m not sure if these lyrics are entirely correct – I can’t seem to figure out what the man’s name is – Crio or Creole? Creole makes more sense but I swear it sounds like Crio! Ah well. Either way, we named my little sister’s horse Crio after this song.

A classic; I love this one. Great guitar rift at the end, too!

57 Guys Do It All the Time by Mindy McCready
I love this song. I had the privilege when I was 17 of singing this in my singing teacher’s concert she put on each year with her students. While most people chose slow songs, I chose this because it is SO much fun to perform! You can really work an audience with material like this!

58 Concrete Angel by Martina McBride

If you can listen to this song without getting choked up, I think you must be made of concrete. What a powerful, horribly sad song.

59 Two Sparrows in a Hurricane by Tanya Tucker

60 Blessed by Martina McBride

61 A Girl’s Gotta Do (What a Girl’s Gotta Do) by Mindy McCready

Another fun one.

62 I’m a Survivor by Reba McEntire

63 Down to My Last Teardrop by Tanya Tucker

64 I Want a Man by Lace

I learned a lot of what I wanted thanks to this song! I’m just happy it didn’t take “all the time in the world.” (:

65 What I Really Meant to Say by Cyndi Thompson

66 A Little Gasoline by Terri Clark

67 Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson

68 Poor, Poor Pitiful Me by Terri Clark

69 Cowboy Take Me Away by the Dixie Chicks

70 Wide Open Spaces by the Dixie Chicks

As a general rule, I actually dislike the Dixie Chicks. Their albums aren’t very good, Natalie Maines’ voice grinds and grates on my nerves… but I do like their odd song. That’s why these appear so low on the list. Especially in Cowboy Take Me Away, I think many other singers could have done a better job vocally… but… the lyrics are really good.

Life Ain’t Always Beautiful
by Gary Allan
written by Cyndi Goodman and Tommy Lee James
song number 56
youtube link here

Life ain’t always beautiful
Sometimes it’s just plain hard
Life can knock you down, it can break your heart

Life ain’t always beautiful
You think you’re on your way
And it’s just a dead end road at the end of the day

But the struggle makes you stronger
And the changes make you wise
And happiness has its own way of takin’ its sweet time

No, life ain’t always beautiful
Tears will fall sometimes
Life ain’t always beautiful
But it’s a beautiful ride

Life ain’t always beautiful
Some days I miss your smile
I get tired of walkin’ all these lonely miles

And I wish for just one minute
I could see your pretty face
Guess I can dream, but life don’t work that way

But the struggles makes me stronger
And the changes make me wise
And happiness has it’s own way of takin’ its sweet time

No, life ain’t always beautiful
But I know I’ll be fine
Hey, life ain’t always beautiful
But it’s a beautiful ride
What a beautiful ride

46. Look at Me Now by Sixwire

Very cheerful, happy-go-lucky, tap-your-toes and seize-the-day kind of song.

Nothing in the world’s gonna get me down
Sparks fly, I’m on fire
Way up high, and I’m getting higher

Love it!

47. Still Holding On by Martina McBride

This is a duet with Martina McBride and Clint Black. I don’t think it was ever released to radio, but it’s one of my favorite B tracks.

But here in my heart
Even when my arms are empty darlin’
I’m still holdin’ on to you

48. This Uncivil War by Martina McBride

Another B track from Martina McBride. She certainly chooses sad songs to record!

I love the war drums and pan pipe solo of “Amazing Grace” that starts and finishes the song.

There’s a silence on the front lines
You can cut it with a knife
You can stay and take your chances
Or you can run to save your life

49. Carrying Your Love With Me by George Strait

A classic. They don’t call George Strait the King of Country for nothing!

50. Seminole Wind by John Anderson

This one is really worth reading the lyrics to; if you’re not familiar with this, which is also a classic, it is all about people destroying a beautiful area of Florida.

Progress came and took its toll
And in the name of flood control
They made their plans and they drained the land
Now the glades are going dry

51. When You Say Nothing at All by Alison Krauss

Also a classic, but originally done by Keith Whitley, I prefer Alison’s version just that much more.

52. That’s the Beat of a Heart by the Warren Brothers, with Sara Evans

So listen with all your heart
Hold it inside forever
You may find all your dreams have already come true

53. Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) by Big and Rich

About time this one was added, eh? Hey, what can I say… it’s Big and Rich’s signature song, and it has it’s appeal. :P

54. One Way Ticket by Leann Rimes

“Because I Can”. Great motto and pretty inspiring.

55. Man of Me by Gary Allan

::drool::

Back then I thought love
Was only sissy stuff
But now I see
That love and you made a man of me

How You Live
by Point of Grace
written by Cindy Morgan
song number: 45
youtube link: Live only

Wake up to the sunlight
With your windows open
Don’t hold in your anger or leave things unspoken
Wear your red dress
Use your good dishes
Make a big mess and make lots of wishes
Have what you want
But want what you have
And don’t spend your life lookin’ back

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
You won’t regret it
Lookin’ back from where you have been
Cuz it’s not who you knew
And it’s not what you did
It’s how you live

So go to the ballgames
And go to the ballet
And go see your folks more than just on the holidays
Kiss all your children
Dance with your wife
Tell your husband you love him every night
Don’t run from the truth
‘Cause you can’t get away
Just face it and you’ll be okay

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
You won’t regret it
Lookin’ back from where you have been
‘Cause it’s not who you knew
And it’s not what you did
It’s how you live

Oh wherever you are and wherever you’ve been
Now is the time to begin

So give to the needy
And pray for the grieving
E’en when you don’t think that you can
‘Cause all that you do is bound to come back to you
So think of your fellow man
Make peace with God and make peace with yourself
‘Cause in the end there’s nobody else

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
‘Cause you won’t regret it
Lookin’ back from where you have been
‘Cause it’s not who you knew
And it’s not what you did
It’s how you live

‘Cause it’s not who you knew
And it’s not what you did
It’s how you live

This is originally a Christian group who crossed over to the country stations with this song. I think it’s amazing.

Everywhere
by Tim McGraw
written by ?
song number: 44
youtube link: here

We were born in this little town
Growin’ up I was counting down
Every single day till we made our get-away
But you said you could never see yourself
Trying to make a life anywhere else
This would be your home and I was on my own
But ever since we said good-bye
I’ve been out here on the wind
Baby you would be surprised
All the places you have been
I’ve seen you in

Albuquerque waitin’ out a blizzard
Arizona dancin’ ‘cross the desert
Watchin’ the sun set in Monterey
Girl I swear just the other day you were
Down in Georgia pickin’ them peaches
In Carolina barefoot on the beaches
No matter where you choose to be
In my heart I’ll always see you
Everywhere

Now days
When I’m passin’ through
The conversation always turns to you
I hear you’re doin’ fine
Livin’ out by the county line
Got a man that’s home every night
a couple of kids and the kind of life
That you want to lead
Guess you could say the same for me
Cause you and I made our choices
All those years ago
Still I know I’ll hear your voice
And see you down the road
Maybe in

Oklahoma drivin’ ‘cross the prairie
In Dallas, Texas isn’t that where we
Always said we would like to try
Never did so maybe that’s why you’re on
Every highway just beyond the high beams
Right beside me in all of my sweet dreams
No matter where you choose to be
In my heart I’ll always see you in

Albuquerque waitin’ out a blizzard
Arizona dancin’ ‘cross the desert
Watchin’ the sun set in Monterey
Girl I swear just the other day you were
Down in Georgia pickin’ them peaches
In Carolina barefoot on the beaches
No matter where you choose to be
In my heart I’ll always see you
Everywhere

I heard this last night on the radio and realized I hadn’t posted it yet. It always makes my chest ache… for reasons that are my own. (:
