I want to become a good cook before I have a family, because I want to be prepared to cook wholesome meals for them. I see so many families who eat out constantly, and that’s so unlike the way that I was raised. My mom cooked our dinner nearly every night, but with little variety. I want to branch out and make all sorts of food.

My husband and I have been together for 12 years now and I have always put up with his dad being a jerk to me, his mom wants me to help her cook this holiday and I don’t want to hear his dad’s load mouth about how he can do everything better. Can someone help
i have been co-cooking with my beau. he is a great cook and gives me tasks, from which i learn much. i noticed that i am becoming quite skilled at cutting herbs, garlic and vegetables. i have gained confidence. two nights ago i cooked a yummy simple meal for myself. what i realized is that if he cooks for me, and then tells me how he did it and leaves the ingredients, i can replicate it for myself the next day! saved me money and gave me an easy thrill of pride in that i can do something i never before believed i could. yes, i can!
I’m tired of explaining to people why I don’t cook. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just I’m tired, I don’t have people to cook for and I’m not concerned about everything being perfect. I just need to knuckle down and learn some skills and not let people with their exotic marzipan machines or whatever intimidate me. Foodies beware!
Since i was little my mum used to incourage me to bake cakes etc! then when i was 15 i got an A* in my Food/cooking! at school! go me!!! it was the only thing i was good at and i have never looked back.
I enjoy adapting my own recipies, and i have many dishes i cook.
My best recipies are Pasta, muffins, and indian food! i also make bread alot.
Its fun, theraputic and enjoyable.
I make lots of bean salads. Theyre pretty easy, but so good and very nutritious.
chickpeas
res beans
diced red and green pepper
cubed tofu
random veggies from the fridge ;)
and then some balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Tonight I think I’m gonna try putting in sesame oil instead of olive oil, it will give it a nutty taste.
this doesnt really make me a good cook.. But since I’m gonna be living with a friend the next couple weeks I think I’ll be expirementing more. I will dedicate one day out of the weekends to cooking something I’ve never made before. Sounds good?
sounds good.
I made a salad last night. I improvised but it really turned out well. I also made the dressing with sesame oil. DEEELISH!
Tobia’s mean salad
brocolli
aubergines

romain letuce
tofu (i used peanut and ginger flavoured. excellent.)
feta (well crumbled)
sun dried tomatoes
dressing: sesame oil + balsamic vinegar (equal parts) + a dollop of dijon mustard.
Preparing food with love is good for digestion and meal satisfaction.
