my eyes do not deserve the pleasure of a beautiful woman, neither does my soul deserve the comfort of a man in love…love is too fair to be unfair to me..

I successfully (read: with flying colors) defended my personal statement of creative theory, and I received my cap, gown, honor cords and grades today. All I have to do is walk in 31 hours. Weird.
I am proud of the work I have done for my degree, but what no one tells you when you publish a book of poems is that, if you’re a young writer, you’ve got to cultivate a whole new body of work for publication, because the poems in the book are pretty much done in terms of publishing. I feel a little as though I’ve got to start over. But that’s OK. I’m good at what I do and I enjoy it.
Cheers to the class of 2008. And to me :-)

It’s my last semester of undergraduate work. On May 03, 2008, I will be awarded my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing. Essentially all I have to do is what I’ve always done, not a whole hell of a lot of work to do in order to achieve this. Frankly, I just want to be able to click the “I’ve done this” button in May.
In most programs you’re going to meet more people who want to be writers than people who actually write. I should know, I was one of them. Honestly, I think you will get just as much out of an occasional writer’s workshop (which WILL help you understand how other people view what you write).
Don’t want to write… write!
something i’ve wanted to do since early childhood. i love words, but i feel as though my talent [provided i have any] needs to be validated.
