I’m beginning my school-required language study in the fall—four semesters of immersion method French! Plus I’m hoping to study abroad through a program that requires intensive language study, and the ones I like most teach Arabic, Bambara, or Croatian. What to choose!? This is obviously a longterm goal, and I have no hope of finishing it in less than 10 years, but the effort is there.

Sophie is a bit lost
Well I’ve got English down pat after nearly 20 years..:P I want to re-learn Mandarin, French and Italian, and then start on the Swahili and Afrikaans.. I know that’s more than three but there’s nothing wrong with being ambitious right? :)
Surinamese (= the 2nd language in Surinam), Dutch & English.
I speak a little Spanish but have a long way to go till I can say that I’m fluent in it!
The end result is that u end up speaking only one language.. so wats the use ?!?
i need to relearn German – i knew it once but have totally lost it. i was also once extremely good at French but i’m not sure i want that to be my 2nd language, even though it would help me considerably when i go to Madagascar. i’m thinking about Czech and Tagalog instead, or Japanese and Sanskrit (which were the 2 languages i wanted in high school), or Quechua and Spanish, maybe?
