There are a lot of good books in the library on this. I will take a look at them next time I have the chance. My longterm goal is to grow herbs and use them in recipes that will taste good and also be healthy.

Garrrlic. No not the guy Forest Whittacker played in the movie Good Morning Vietnam. Talking about the plant here, the herb. Garlic is awesome and totally underrated. I think it’s cool that it fixes any kind of cold pretty much overnight as long as you eat a whole piece (clove?) not the whole friggin thing, just one of those pieces that come off.
Lately, to learn about herbalism, I’ve been looking up what herbs and spices help with everyday problems as I experience them (upset stomach, cold, flu, etc…)
Boil a cup of honey on low for 40 minutes, cut up a whole onion in the meantime, once the honey has cooked and turned to a runny liquid, pour it into a glass jar with the onion in it. let it cool, then put in the fridge. and then you got something you can sip on every hour or so to take away the sore throat, kinda like a cough drop type of fix. Honey in general can be drunk “right out of the bottle” as a cough syrup. make sure it’s good local and or real honey though.
Bill is really chilled out :)
its a brilliant thing to learn about, I’ve always been interested in alternative medicine, a this just captivated me as soon as i started
I did a night class in this a few years ago and I have to ask myself if I wanted to pursue this further and for it to be an achievable goal, what form would it take. I’ve looked at degree qualifications in herbalism before but I haven’t got the money to pursue this, and I’m not sure I’d want to do it as a job. I’ll keep reading around this as I am interested but it’s not going to be a set goal for me.
I am an official chartered herbalist. It’s so fun to walk around and know what different plants do. I did my course through Dominion Herbal College in Burnaby B.C.
i have a ridiculous knowledge when it comes to herbs, whatcha wanna know, lol start researching homeopathy, there are lots of good books on herbs some of my favorite are cunninghams encyclopedia of magikal herbs(that one is a little different though it teaches you about magikal uses genders of plants and so on, but if you wanna know how to make ointments use herbs for remedies and so on may i recommend the green witch herbal( my personal favorite it covers anything and everything) all of the yearly herbal almanacs are good and the penelope ody holistic herbal directory. I could give you a whole list but i have already taken up to much space, my mother has taught me throughout my childhood about herbs, taken me to homeopathic doctors and taught me not to have as much faith in modern medicine, you do still need modern medicine to a degree but there are lots of remedies you can try out first that are very effective. I recommend learning as much you can about herbs but be very careful some are toxic and can be very dangerous. I hope i helped.
Unlike nuclear physics or western medicine, there is no infrastructure in place to teach/learn about the herbs. You have to glean what you can from others who are still constantly looking to learn more. You have to be almost completely self-directed. So it ends up being a long, strange journey to real knowledge.
