I’m 44 & my biggest dream since I was a teenager has been to spend my life in Norway. I was an exchange student in Norway for 1 year in 1983 and spoke Norwegian well back then, but haven’t spoken it at all for 25 years. I have just started working freelance over the internet but haven’t been at it long enough to make a lot of money or estimate how much money I will make in the future. I’m guessing at least 35K & maybe 50K USD. I now live in Japan & my wife is a Japanese citizen who can’t speak much English. We are planning to have a child soon. So Norway is too expensive for an internet freelancer in my situation. But it would be okay if my wife & I could qualify for the amazing advantages of Norwegian citizenship, such as health care & free education. But it takes 7 years to become a Norwegian citizen, & I no longer speak the language fluently. Any advice would be welcome.

How I did it: I found an organization that I'm involved with based in Norway, I applied to be staff with them, got accepted, applied for my Visa, bought a plane ticket, adjusted my finances to be able to be reached abroad, did research on what I would need there for weather, etc, saved money, applied for financial support, got my visa, got my support, bought a ticket, and left for Norway! Had a lab class at uni today. My lab partner is swedish and she was describing to me how beautiful Norway is. Made me wish that I could go there soon. There is however, much saving and planning to be done …
This’d be a crazy kinda thing to do. I can’t even totally explain why I want to go … I just think it would be amazing, even if not really feasble at this moment in time.
Norway is sooo pretty i hope i get to move there 1 day plus Black Metal kicks ass
I would love to move to Norway someday. But I’d also like to move to Seattle, or San Antonio, or Southern California, or the hill country of Texas, or anyplace with mountains, or Brazil, or Italy, or…
I’d rather move all over the place for a year or two at a time.
So, I’m retiring my goal to move to Norway since it isn’t actually a specific goal I expect to attain.
I’ve been dreaming about moving to norway for ages… but getting a visa to norway from an unpopular country is not that easy, plus it costs a lot of money to get there from south america.
I wish I could get hired or something…
When we fall in love sometimes we know that it’s just a feeling that will pass through and that it’ll go away… well, mine is not going away at all! I fell in love, and I am willing to give up everything for her… so that is why I want to move to Norway and whether I have to walk there, swim and fight I’ll get there.
