Yay! 2 years ago

One of our accountants just came by and handed me the rest of my money… I didn’t expect to accomplish this one today! Good timing…

Oops! 2 years ago

I haven’t been following my invoices too closely, and one of my clients owes me weeks o’ cash. I’ve been feeling a little broke, but I thought I was just doing a bad job of saving or something. Glad I went back to check—I found two other weeks that I never invoiced to them! They’re good for the money, just a little flaky. Then again, apparently so am I…

If nothing else, it’s forced me to save!

New Job 2 years ago

Well, I got hired today at a mid sized architectural firm as an intern earning $18 per hour. I think it’s a step in the right direction! ;)

I think I chose the wrong profession to be well paid. Everyone thinks Architects make butt-loads of money, and some do, but only after 20-50 years of experience. Also, the requirements to become licensed as an Architect are as stringent as those for doctors or lawyers (but with 50-80% less pay). I’m talented and have excelled in my current position as an Architectural Intern; I even supervise two other interns after only 6 months on the job. I just don’t see myself making the kind of money I want to make any time soon, especially since I’ve had a streak of bad luck lately and have had to miss a few too many days in the last month or so (won’t look good on my annual review).

I am considering going back to school to become an Engineer. As an EIT (Engineer in Training) I would be earning twice my current salary and if I participate in the ROTC program while I get my degree I can become an Air Force officer and be earning 50% more money right out of school, with the possibility of more than doubling my salary within three years. Of course this would require more student loans but I think it would be worth it. Or maybe I should consider becoming a doctor; do you think they would let me into medical school with a degree in architecture?

Shallow I know, but London is very expensive.
