Learn Perfect Pitch

I believe… 15 months ago

Sorry if a little bit long my post but please read. I believe that perfect pitch is learned. I don’t believe is something only a “special” group of people have and we cant. I mean NOBODY is born knowing which color is which not with pitch is which. Absolute Pitch is a cognitive function. These people don’t have “super ears” nor theirs is different of other people. Absolute pitch is more how the brain processes tones and pitches. And i believe we can learn to think that way. We se read and we know is red. Why isn’t what a “Absolute Color” o whatever skill that only “special” people can do? Is because everybody learn the colors. Same can happen with the thing of perfect pitch. Is all i n our head. The way we associate things. I’m gonna LEARN and make it something NATURAL for me!! and i want people to think that way and dont let people who claim that you cant learn it. or that if you learn it is not useful because is not natural. No body is born playing an instrument, speaking, even recognizing ANYTHING. We learn EVERYTHING one way of another; Consciously or not and make it part of us until t becomes NATURAL!! So im gonna make perfect pitch something natural for me and teach those who claim they have something nobody possesses that we can make it to!!! Thanks!!

I always thought I’d love to be able to play anything by ear. so why am I procrastinating. It’s been really helpful writing this goal down.. but then I have to DO something, right? I cecked out some online courses at Berklee but for several hundered dollars they did not promise perfect pitch.. I’m downloading a programme now and will check that out. Meanwhile, I’m learning to play lots of songs with the result that my ear is getting better.. but I want it all, I imagine that smugness of knowing exactly what is going on in the melody and the harmony. I won’t be satisfied with less. Well at least I’m saying it as it is!

I’ve wanted perfect pitch for a long time. I sing and play the piano so it would help a lot. I’m going to start a serious routine of exercises and I think this group will help me stay motivated. I’m excited!

not so important anymore. not working out for the proportional amount of effort.

I've decided I don't actually want to do this right now. 2 years ago

I would rather focus on improving my relative pitch. I don’t doubt that it’s possible, but I really don’t think it would be a cure-all for my problems – it would probably be a kind of artificial recognition that wouldn’t really help me. Maybe I’ll come back to it later.

I am getting better .I dont know when to call this one done…I say when I identify correctly 10 random of the 12 western pitches in a row, by ear, each seperated by 2 minutes of tv, talking to myself or walking outside and hearing the wind…or at least when having perfect pitch helps me in my life.

I identified 120 pitches correctly today, about I got about 98% of them right. Its weird, since I’ve been forgetting this goal, but I came back and it was very easy to remember how they feel. F is distant, dark, greenish…kind of like E, which is also lost. G is the hardest for me. It is a thin line between everything, unstudey. D is woody, brown, a long slope. I never got an A, B, or C wrong out of the 120. sweet, climactic and home, respectively.

Feeling them synesthetically helps.

I’m getting better. I can name pitches on the piano without looking at them, but its hard for anything else. But I know I’m improving and I’m closer to gaining it.

I’m going to try a few exercises I concocted myself.

Subgoal – practice identifying 100 pitches everyday.

Hopefull I’ll internalize them before too long.
