Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

StuartieGX-Men - Days of Future Past (2014)

Watched this a bit ago – just realised it’s now in the top 250. Some other films must’ve dropped off the list, now on 180/250. 5 months ago

StuartieGThe Grand Budapest Hotel

Watched this about a month ago (really enjoyed it!), just noticed it has gained enough votes (needs at least 25,000) to get into the top 250. 8 months ago

The list has changed a lot recently. 8 months ago

StuartieGCurrent Progress 180/250 watched

I’ve cancelled my LoveFilm rent DVDs by post service – I felt I was constantly needing to watch movies when they came through rather than wanting to watch them. I may renew it in the future (maybe a portable DVD player to take in the taxi?). But for now my rate of watching movies has slowed up!

In the meantime I’ve got a handful of Top250 movies to watch on Netflix, a few old ones on Youtube, one at the cinema (“Her”), and a recently bought 2nd hand DVD of Platoon. 10 months ago

StuartieGJagten (The Hunt)

Danish film starring the bad guy from Casino Royale who is accused of child sex abuse in his town. Interesting enough film. 10 months ago

StuartieGRang De Basanti

My first ever Bollywood movie, making it in at 140th in the top 250. Long (almost three hours), it started slowly at first – had the feel of an American road trip / romcom initially, but the story really progressed as it went on. Decent enough, but not blown away! 10 months ago

StuartieGOn The Waterfront

Okish old movie. Classic “I could’ve been a contender” speech. 10 months ago

StuartieGRaging Bull

Interesting arty looking movie 10 months ago

StuartieGMr Smith Goes To Washington

An oldie, but still enjoyed it. Political drama / comedy. 10 months ago

Japanese movie about a Ronin (Samurai without a master) who comes across a village with problems with the two local crime lords. I thought the story seemed somewhat familiar – checked and it was remade as “A Fistful of Dollars”! Enjoyed it!

Progress 175/250 seen 11 months ago

StuartieGIt Happened One Night

Older multi-Oscar winning movie. Okish, there was one bit where the main character was eating carrots and acting like Bugs Bunny – turns out Bugs Bunny’s mannerisms were partly based on the scene in this film! 11 months ago

StuartieGThe Elephant Man

Enjoyable film about the life of John Merrick, aka The Elephant Man. Was made in 1980, but felt more like a film from decades earlier. Anthony Hopkins was briliant, think he’s one of my favourite actors! 11 months ago

StuartieGThe Deer Hunter

Felt it started slow but enjoyed it once it got going. Although I’d seen the Russian Roulette sequences parodied lots of times it was really tense to watch! 11 months ago

Enjoyed this modern MMA movie! 11 months ago

StuartieGBridge on the River Kwai

Enjoyed this old (1957) movie. Not sure if it was the updating to Blu Ray, but this film could almost have been filmed this year it looks so good. 12 months ago

StuartieGUpdate - 167/250

The site I was using to check does not appear to have been updated for a while, seems out of date by a bit. Checked on another site – four films (Papillion, Beauty and the Beast, The Artist & District 9) have dropped off the list, and the new Hobbit movie has gone on. 12 months ago

StuartieGAll About Eve

1950 movie about a young woman named Eve who befriends a famous theatre actress. Really didn’t fancy this film at all. It’s sat in it’s DVD cover for a good few weeks now. Ended up putting it but doing other things and laving it running in the background. Meh! Maybe if I’d properly got into it would have enjoyed it more. 12 months ago

StuartieGWas thinking about this today

I am enjoying watching films on the list when I do, but I feel I am “having” to watch them rather than wanting to. I’ve recently also got a Netflix account, and to be honest a lot of the time I feel like watching a completely different movie. Recently I’ve (re)watched and enjoyed Speed, Three Amigos, Airplane!, Spaceballs, The Inbetweeners (every episode), The Hunger Games and today Unbreakable. I quite enjoy watching just what I feel like, rather than an old classic (All About Eve has been sitting in the house waiting to be watched for about 3 weeks now lol!). I will still work towards this goal, but I might slow down somewhat. Current total is 169/250. 12 months ago

StuartieGShutter island

Watched this last night with my sister. Was decent enough, though we guessed most of the twist pretty early on! 12 months ago

StuartieGSilence Of The Lambs

Wow! One of my favourite movies I’ve ever seen!
That’s all the top 50 watched – only 4 left in the top 100 now! 12 months ago

StuartieGAliens. Loved this! A lot better than the first film IMHO!

Fascinating film about the last days of Hitler 13 months ago

StuartieGRashomon (1950)

Another Japanese film, this time dealing with several different peoples differing recollections of the same incident. Not amazing… 13 months ago

StuartieGThe Lives Of Others

Really touching film about a Stasi Agent in Cold War East Germany who becomes obsessed about a couple he is spying on… 13 months ago

Alfred Hitchcock has more movies in the Top 250 than any other director. Deservedly so. At first this film didn’t really grab me too much, was average at best. But the twist was fantastic – never saw it coming in a million years! 13 months ago

StuartieGSeven Samurai

One of the top movies ever made according to the IMDB list. It seems a bit dated now but set the scene for the majority of action movies made today. 13 months ago

Interesting story about Mozarts life (And death).

Current totals: 161/250 (also 90 out of top 100) 13 months ago

StuartieG"Singing In The Rain" & "Gravity"

Singing in the Rain was a classic musical, fairly enjoyed it!

Gravity is this years big new movie, to be honest I enjoyed it but thought the hype affected how much I liked it… 13 months ago
