RoniPip is getting ready for fall/winter
Checked out “Berlitz-Rush Hour French” from the library.
It’s set as a musical so it kind of reminds me of Broadway. :)
In any case, it works. The music in the background helps with the interest factor. Each chapter has a theme such Restaurant/Colors/Seasons/etc.
So far, so good.
I’ve been able to use it without having to read the enclosed booklet (as I’m already familialr with some of the basics of French).
=========
I’m noticing I’m getting the French accent more – finally.

RoniPip is getting ready for fall/winter
Today:
1. I studied the lyrics of some French songs I like (“Double Je” and “Le Festin” from Ratatouille)
2. Wrote some comments, in French – using Google language translator – to an American friend in France. It’s kind of cheating but I figure, at this point, as long as I can read it & understand it, it’s helping me. hehe.
I even threw in a line from the song from “Double Je” in my text. Just to sound more natural. :)
“C’est comme ça qu’est ce que j’y peux”—> That’s how it is, what can I do?
Other thoughts:
1. I like being a student of another language because I teach English as a Second Language. Sometimes I forget it’s hard learning another language so I think studying French will help me relate to the students and thus be a better teacher.
2. My script writing is so much neater when I write something in French. Interesting.

I’m drawn to the French language.
I studied 1 semester French in college and on & off tried to study on my own throughout the years.
I just like the sound of the language and the challenge of learning it.
Last year, I tried to learn it on my own again, but I decided to stop studying it because it wasn’t practical for where I live; but everytime I see it somewhere I want to learn it.
So, I have this pull to learn it. I can run, but I can’t hide. ;)
I have a bunch of French study books.
I can read more than speak.
Need to sign up for a class.
Deadline: Sign up in Jan. 2010.

I know I should – after 1 year of being here I am no better than when I started. Life is fantastic here and everyone is so helpful and as long as you try to speak french people will try to help you.
I carry my French Dictionary around with me & I get by OK
So my challenge is ..to speak French at least twice a week for at least 1 hour – short, simple and just get on with it!!

The French language is sexy and elegent. I appreciate French culture. They refuse to bend to the overwhelming influence of English and I don’t blame them. The French are bitchy and elitest, all while having a reputation for not taking showers and that’s close to my heart.

roflcopterlmfao is lucky enough to have a bf that has every good qualities possible.
french was my first language, and I moved here 10 years ago. it only took me about a year to learn all the basics in English, and now I have almost forgotten how to speak French well. I still understand and read it perfectly, but my grammar in french is terrible. Knowing how to speak french is fun!!! Watching movies or reading books that sometimes use French sayings become really fun when you understand what those sayings mean. Knowing French also helps you if you like to travel, go to France or Belgium, it’s very fun!
