Sailed for 2 week and it was very nice with a mixture of European and Arabic influences. Most of the islands outside the Turkish coast are Greek and it was very difficult to go there with a boat with a Turkish flag.

just back from a week’s bareboat charter (Jenneau Odyssey 34.2) out of Gocek round the Fethiye Gulf, with my partner as crew.
great little bays with restaurants in the middle of nowhere (although every cove no matter how small fills with large gulets – turkish tourist boats – during the day, so yachts don’t have the coast to themselves as in many other areas), good weather and decent winds
As part of a three-week tour of western Turkey I was lucky enough to experience a short cruise along the Bosporus. The sights you see along the water are truly magnificent.
in october of 2002 i sailed the mediterranean (how do you spell that??!!) coast of turkey on a beautiful 65 foot boat with an archeologist leading our group on daily land expeditions (followed by an evening swim, shower (one in each room), cocktails and dinner). it was the best 2 weeks of my life. i’m going again in october of 2005 and anyone who’s interested should let me know. this trip will be a little more physically active in that our day hikes will be in the 7 mile range. but we still sail daily and still eat and sleep on and swim off of the boat and the theme is still archaeoligical. we can only take 14 people on the trip, so let me know!
Its Awesome. You should also scuba dive the southern coast and enjoy the awesome food. Turkey is an awesome place with histoy out the Ying Yang.
