Lynn is busy learning what it means to be an urban homesteader!
This is one of those goals I’ve only been keeping up with on and off. I’m going to try working harder on it. Joined the gym at work last week and have been getting up at 4:30 every morning to work out at least an hour before work, and was even in on the weekends. My workout is more serious too. On the elliptical have been alternating 2 mins jogging speed and 2 minutes walking speed for a half hour. The other half hour is spent on the weights alternating with calestenics.
For freeweights I’m now doing 2×10 each of Bicep Curls, Shoulder Raises, Tricep Kickbacks, Overhead Extensions, and Upward Rows. On the machines I’m doing seated leg presses, seated leg curls, lat rows, lat pull downs, reverse flys, flys, and shoulder presses. On rest days I’ll be working on putting together more calisthenics and a core routine.

I’ve been using my elliptical every single day since I got it. I usually do two 20 or 30 minute sessions on it each day. Maybe I’ll pick up some weights this weekend so my arms can get a workout too.

I got an inexpensive used elliptical to help with this goal and add some variety to my routine.

I’m feeling really good about this one. I have a 3 disk pilates set that came with an exercise band. I did the beginners routine every morning for 2 weeks. I’ve been doing the AM Pilates routine on the second disc for another 2 weeks. I’m also to the point where I’m energized enough to hit the gym in the evening to use the elliptical for 20-30 minutes. The last 2 days I’ve also been adding in 10-15 minutes on the weights.

when i was in middle school, we were told one year that our goal was to run a 12 minute mile by the end of the year. it was hard for me even then and i resisted it every step of the way. but now i’m finding i want to go back to simple goals like that… sort of a way of reclaiming my childhood probably, lol. so i’ve been run/walking 20 minutes, 5 days a week. i finally feel good enough to maybe go for every day now. we’ll see…

This one took me a while to get started on, but I got my hands on some pilates dvds over the weekend and began doing that. It’s harder than you’d think!

so far so good

I’ve been walking 20 minutes during my lunch break. On the days that I don’t get to walk, I do something else, like hike or core exercises. :)

To stay fit

Sadly, I don’t work out at all. I used to and even though I hated going to the gym, I always felt better afterwards. So, 20 minutes a day sounds like something that I can do and stay within my budget at the same time.

But i’ve been doing a half hour DVD 2-3 days a week every week this month. This is really good for me to get up off my but on a regular basis. Yay!

I am naturally active and end up doing atleast 20 minutes of exercise most days. It always feels so good to be active.
