Clear out my room

How I did it: For me it was all about motivation. I had tried doing it many a time in the past, but I was never motivated enough to do it. Once I wanted the change enough I became absorbed in doing it.

I spent around 30 hours during the first week. This involved throwing away things, and making bags up to go to charity shops. The second week was mainly reorganising what I had left, and donating my things.

Lessons & tips: *Know your reasons for doing it. It might help to write them down, to keep you motivated.

* Try to work off of the 7 day rule. If you use an item during the average week, keep it. Otherwise think if you will use it in the near future, but more importantly if you actually need it. Throw away or donate if the answer is no.

*I sold all of my dvds and video games to Blockbuster, and received next to nothing for them, so selling them online might be best if you want the cash.

* If you are donating a lot to a charity shop, offer to help out a bit by taking them to their storage room. This will make you feel even better about yourself.
