i want to consistently break 90 in every golf tournament played. the problem has been i waste quite a lot of shorts around the green. i hit quite good long shots though not consistent. most senior play players either comment that i do not complete the swing or i have a grip problem.

Started playing golf again about 6 or 8 weeks ago. Shot a glorious 118. Opted to take a few lessons, learn the proper mechanics of stroke. Then made a concerted effort to get out to the range twice a week, work on my short game as much as possible. (Everyone whips out the driver at the range and cranks, cranks, cranks…but the real score-cutting skill lies in the short irons, chips, and putting.)
And now, after about 2 months, I’ve just shot a 97. Knocking 21 strokes off my round in that time is something that I should savor. (As opposed to focusing on the negative…”Damn, didn’t sink that 60 foot putt!” “Oh, I topped a drive!”, etc…)
Imagine, 2 more months, I’ll cut off 21 more strokes, and I’ll be at 76. Okay. I’m kidding about that.
I’ve played two sets of 9 holes in the last week and shot 46 and then 47.
Had 1 O.B. ball off the tee in the first nine and 2 O.B. off the tee in the second nine. I’ll need to hit the fairway on all 18 – even if I only hit the ball 200 yds to shoot in the 80’s.
Off to the driving range tomorrow.
Was shooting 14 over after 16, then got a triple-triple for a grand total of 20 over (92). Still my best, but im starting to regress I think. I have until the end of this year if I play a lot, next year if I dont.
My game off the tee sucks.
To play bogey golf I’m going to have to avoid OB, by sucking it up and hitting a 3 iron off the tee for a while. It will be shorter but straighter than my Driver.
