Fill every idea/sketch book I own

Today with a group of friends we went to SF MOMA to check out the “1000 journals” exhibit. I even got to add an entry to a couple of the provided journals. This got all of our juices going. Now I’ve just gotta continue to work on my sketchbooks.

one problem with “completing” this goal (which is really more of a lifelong endevour) is that i’m forever starting some new journal / notebook for some new interest or pursuit. Not a bad thing, guess, but it does perpetuate my energies on the “New” rather than finishing the “Old”.

This summer i started a “Creative Pursuits” journal based on the ideas described in the book Refuse to Choose by Barbara Sher.I actually have two—the first one i had wasnt a good size to capture all that i wanted, so now i’m going back & forth between the smaller old one and the larger newer one, filling in the old with what Will fit, and trying to keep up with entries in the new…

In the past 2 weeks i’ve been reading up on various decorating strategies / making one’s home reflect your life and soul, and after reading about making a “Picture Journal” in a great book What Color is Your Slipcover ,i’ve pulled out a fresh notebook, and began compiling images and scribbling down answers to the self-assessment questions. So now i’ve yet another new idea journal to fill….

i doubt this goal will ever leave my list; i enjoy making journals and notebooks and scrapbooks and quoditian diaries ‘way too much. So maybe this goal should just be detailed what new journal / idea book i’ve started, and any leaps forward. Starting a new ideas journal is Too much fun….

yes. years. just did a quick estimation of how many i have and it’s about 12. thats without digging deep. most of those are thick ones too.

this will take a few years even if i buy no more books. and thats not going to happen!! i love buying blank notebooks!!!

Technically (with my spending problem and all) it is next to impossible to complete this goal. I feel satisfied with the rate I am filling my note books and sketch books, considering it was over a year I’ve had this goal.

I have decided to combine my ideas book with my journal as I found myself not writing in either -but always feeling guilty that I should be writing in both.

Since I have combined them, I have written something almost every day for the past month. Previously, I had only been writing once every 3 months. If you’re like me and want time to write, but feel like you have too many books to write in…combine the books, then once you have a habit of writing rgularly, start splitting things up into separate books!

I have several shelves of ideas books & sketchpads just waiting to be used… must practice putting creative thoughts onto paper & into action instead of losing them forever amongst a neverending to-do list of everyday chores & tasks that never seems to get any shorter.

I’ve been writing in my journal a lot more often lately. I definitely want to write more in general. I always liked writing when I was younger and when I was in school it forced me to do so but now that I’m out of school and the only writing my job forces me to do is emails, I don’t do it as much. I’m trying though.
It’s the same with drawing really. I need to force myself to sit down and draw sometimes.

Holy cow! Completing my goal to fill all of my sketchbooks is going to take longer than I thought. I keep finding forgotten empty sketchbooks.
