i FINALLY got around to actually listening to tinariwen, and i’m blown away. i like a lot of the ‘popular’ african music that i’ve heard. tinariwen combines some that style, although in a more raw form, with some of the rythms i associate with arabic music. i’m going to have to see them live sometime. in mali would be best, but i’ll settle for where i can find them.
