How to make apple sauce
How I did it: I had no idea how applesauce is made, so I found a recipe to work with. It happened to be hosted at Recipezaar. I tweaked it a bit, using less sugar and adding more cinnamon.
I peeled and sliced four apples, then boiled them up with half a cup of water, stirring every so often until it resemble chunky applesauce. I added two tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon after about 20 minutes into cooking.
Unfortunately, 4 apples doesn't go that far for applesauce if you're trying to feed two people. I'll double the recipe next time.
Next time I'll leave the skins on. The skins are nutritious, and it will be less work!
Lessons & tips: Make sure you have a block of time to dedicate to making applesauce, especially if you decide to peel your apples.
Fortunately, applesauce is easy.
