I’ve been lucky to be in Portland a lot lately and so have been buying great direct trade coffee from Stumptown roasters. My house is kind of a mess right now, so I haven’t had anyone over, but I have bought a few extra half-pounds of coffee to bring back for people here in KC. So, although I haven’t made great coffee for guests, I’ve helped some people to do it on their own.
I did buy a small 3-cup French press this week. It’s big enough really for just one person if you’re using a mug. I guess it could work for two if you did the cup-and-saucer thing.

Picked up organic half n half today (and great fresh roasted coffee yesterday). I am going to look for a 3 to 4-cup French press in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime I am making coffee with a pour-over cone and paper filter.
I saw non-dairy creamer at the store but I guess there’s no way I’m going to buy that Carnation vegetable oil stuff. Maybe soymilk is a better alternative.

3) know how to make great drip coffee
4) know how to make coffee for one person or a group
5) always have a selection of sweeteners (white and brown sugar and substitutes)
