CitrusOne is a Tree Hugging Traveling Health Nut
Sent thanks for a few gifts I received, to thank someone for apartment-sitting and so on. For me, the trick is to send a note that is ‘good enough’ as opposed to ‘perfect.’ I’m going to hold on to this goal for a while to see if I can keep up the good habit.

I’ve heard that you are supposed to send your notes within 3 days. Well, I’m well beyond that. I had a birthday in August, so if I get my notes sent off in September, I will feel that I have made a step toward my goal.

I wish I could be that person who always remembers to mail out those perfect little notes thanking everyone for everything. I know women who work, have kids, a husband, a house to manage, and still do this. How? I would love to know. I can’t manage to get have the stuff done in one day that I need to and they do all that. The last thank you notes that I wrote out are still somewhere on my desk. Unless I have your email address I probably will never get one to you. I want to be that person but I am to busy doing everything else that I forgot to do.

I think I’m getting the hang of this. Maybe this new habit will actually stick?

I hope not, because I just sent three of them last night. I don’t use those free postcards—I pay for the Blue Mountain service, and then I try to write long, thoughful notes to attach to each “card.” My handwriting is the worst. This is why I prefer the online cards. I’m not saving very much time and money, but the e-cards do reduce clutter for the recipients, so I think they’re great.

8/8: I just received my late Great Aunt’s China from my cousin. The family was considering placing it on ebay, but they instead thought of me… Aunt Bea was a DIVA- owned furs, fancy cars, was a small town dignitary, & founded a Sorority. She often entertained with this set, throwing lavish dinner parties & quaint Sunday gatherings… When she handed it over, my cousin said “She is smiling in Heaven”... I feel special… I will hand write my thank you on paper with a similar pattern (Royal Rose by Fine China of Japan)...Thank you Cousin Dunie…

Oh no! How horrible to realize that i don’t actually have physical addresses for many (no, MOST) of the people with whom i interact! Even if i go to their houses, i still don’t have their addresses written down (conveniently) anywhere. This could easily spring another goal for me, but for now i think it works well inside the Thank You notes, since it’s virtually impossible to actually/physically send one without some form of address.
