I have recently decided that everything is as clean as it needs to be, despite the non-routine ways that my DH and I have.

I’ve been keeping the toilet bowls clean on a regular basis, for the past three weeks.
Baby steps. It’s working. Now to add mirrors to the bowl routine.

I gave the houseplants a good dusting this afternoon. I discovered that a pair of worn-out nylon socks worked fabulously for this.
I also dusted the shelves, the entertainment center, and the sideboard.
The bathrooms are noticeably cleaner since I’ve been doing the clean-as-you-go method.

I’ve started the clean-as-you-go-tip from zen habits dot net.
And I’ve got my weekly checklist.

I have moved to my larger, nicer looking place. I think it will be much easier to maintain routines for a clean living space because it just looks so nice, and I know people could drop by at any minute (like my boyfriend the neat freak). Right now the task is going to be to find a place for all of the new Christmas stuff and unpack that extra bedroom and not stuff it with everything that don’t have a place (which I’m currently doing).
I will consider this goal complete after one month of having a company-ready home. It has been clean since move-in on the 18th, so my goal date is January 18th.

Make a list of weekly chores that would help me keep things in order and have it laminated so that I can mark off things but still reuse the paper. Or maybe I should get into a ROUTINE as my goal suggests. I used to have a nice morning-afternoon-before bed routine that worked quite well. Maybe I should get that going again.

I’m coming back to this…this is not a forever give-up.

We cleaned it yesterday. There’s still a bit more to tackle, but the current state is much improved.

It’s been clean for a week… and not just suitable, but clean enough that I don’t fear company or the landlord haha. Inspection clean. It feels great! I’m much more calm when my home looks nice, and I can relax and think about other stuff that needs to get done. So for my 30 day clean streak, I have 7 days down, 23 to go before I can check this goal off.

I maintained a company-ready house for probably a week… then things got a little messy and for a day or 2 it would have been embarrassing to have any company. Now it’s clean again, or atleast the company-viewable parts are. I’m going to clean up the rest of it, I have a birthday party for my little girl and an apartment inspection coming up in a couple weeks. It would be great not to have to stay up scrambling to get things in order before an inspection like I always have in the past. And I live in government housing so they are SUPER picky about how clean it is. I can’t wait til December when I get to live in a normal apartment where they actually don’t come and check if there are dirty dishes in your sink.
