the week after next, I found a class anyhow…
WhichWayUp will not give up. She'll find fresh motivation instead!
Kickboxing was worth trying for me because it was something that I found intimidating, and I overcame that. However, it didn’t strike me as something you’ve just “gotta try!” In regards to kickboxing, I’m pretty indifferent either way.
Although I did a year of Aikido, I still feel that I’m not assertive enough at times.
Although Aikido teaches a few useful things (okay, lots of useful things) it does take a long time to get good at it. Because Aikido doesn’t involve competitions I do feel that I still don’t know if I could rely on what I’ve learned nor do I feel it makes me confident enough physically.
I know that proper self-defence means learning more types of martial arts than I could possibly do in the free time available, but learning one that’s poles away from Aikido could well help.
