    Early Voting! 8 months ago

One is allowed to vote some two weeks prior to the actual election date. I don’t have to wait in line, I don’t have to be there on a certain day, or any of that. I just go to the courthouse and tell them I wish to vote early. I do not even have to give a reason! Now there is no reason for me to not vote.

I swear I will never miss a vote. I think it is so important. Why did women campaign for this right to have so many people not vote?

always exercise your rights 1 year ago

i missed one election a long time ago and paid my fine.
i missed my democratic right and opportunity due to my personal disollusionment of those in power.
i realise that i had failed not only myself, but my country.
i will continue to vote so long as i have that small right.
one right that has not yet been stolen from me.

...i can only think of two times i missed an election or primary—once when i was away at college, and wasnt able to figure out the absentee voting in time (it was much more complicated then), and once, missed a primary when i was in the hospital…

i take voting very seriously, and it drives me crazy when people around me dont, like its some annoying task they resent having to make time for. I recall in 2000 arguing with a number of friends & co-workers of the major importance of their vote, to keep Bush from winning….and they’d either shrug & say voting didnt make any difference anyway, or they’d planned to make a “Statement Vote” for Nader, because it made no difference who won. I’d be willing to bet that each of them wishes they could have that vote back, to prevent the terrible directions this country has been taken by Dubya in the past 6 years…

How voting ever became complacent in this country is a baffling to me…how could anyone be oblivious to the battles and struggles people thru out time have endured to gain the privilege to Vote??

hopefully, the one good thing to come of these 6 miserable years, is that no one will ever take their Vote causually again…

    Democratic Primary 2 years ago

I voted in the Democratic Primary race in Southeast Texas today. I really feel good when I vote because I like to know who I’m voting for…so I research the candidates to really get to the bottom of it all before I hit the voting booth. I think the right to vote is the only true, pure, and truly free right we have as Americans and I think more people my age should vote in an educated manner.

to thinking “I” don’t make a difference. I feel that goes back to a childish way of thinking that says,”if we won’t do it my way, I am going home!” Perhaps I don’t make that much of an impact, but “WE” do.
