Wake-Up Call 5 months ago

The one thing I sort of dislike about dinner with family friends is the inevitable comparing. And of course, I always come up short.

And then I become really pensive. Ugh.

So tomorrow’s going to be an amazing day where I start making study guides and preparing for the panels and all. Yes, that’s right; tomorrow, I’m going to be a PERFECT person.

... Yeah.

Only one week left... 5 months ago

As if I didn’t have enough stress worrying about the SATs next weekend left. But I really really REALLY need to ace these finals—they’re my last chance at getting a decent GPA. And if I’m ever going to hope to get into a college like MIT (okay, so I’m reaching JUST a bit), I have to be AMAZING, especially considering my lack of anything else to advertise and offer to colleges.

Whew, I can do this. I totally can.

Here’s my battle plan:
Seminar – No final, but there is that final conference. I’ll just have to make do with my presentations and essays and hope it’s enough to maybe give me an A-? Please?
Bio – Study guide study guide study guide, I’m going to go through my notes and condense everything. Maybe I’ll find some old tests and quizzes to look at as well. And ACE that practical. Oh, that’ll be tough.
Creative Writing – Make that story revision AMAZING.
Chinese – Look over and rewrite my notes, as well as finish that presentation.
And finally… Calculus. Oh god Calculus. That is going to KILL me, man I hate series and sequences SO much. Stupid Taylor Series can just go DIE. But I’m hoping I can steal Olivia’s notes and make a study guide out of it.

... ... So I got a lot of work to do. But I can do it. I think.

The results are in! 10 months ago

And I managed to pass all three finals in the first sitting! Am absolutely delighted but very tired after a night of little to no sleep.

So, now it’s on to the case study and once I’ve passed that, I’m done, finished.

It’s about a month to go until my final professional accounting exams and I really need to get into the habit of regular studying now.

Studied for three hours today and managed to get a fair chunk of work done.

This is the plan going forward:

  • P3: Summaries for chapters 1-12, Review and summarise readings for chapters
  • P6: Summarise chapters 12 & 13, summarise handout on ratio analysis
  • P9: Start studying!

My finals were easier than I thought… I think I did pretty good on them.

Three things which Help a Lot:
Studying
Working hard (throughout the year, not just before finals)
Magick
Here’s the ritual I used:
1. Read invocation to Satan.
2. Read compassion spiel.
3. Explained desire, basically, whined for a bit.
4. Read the eighteenth Enochian key.
5. Said “So it is done”.
That ritual is basically entirely responsible for my success on the math test. I barely studied or even tried on the math final and I still passed. Not that I’m advocating such a way to approach finals but, when in need…

Day 8 18 months ago

Studying for business and math is hard. I’ve already lost 3 business study guides and I only studied 2 business study guides yesterday.
I tried to study for math but it just confused me. Ughh… I’ll try some more today. I’m not sure how much I should practice or anything. I suppose 5 problems is good.
I lost my list of subjects to study. I’m going to try to find it at my Mom’s but if I can’t, I can always rewrite it at school before and during Drawing Club. After that, if I have it all down I could go with Sherry to the theaters.
I could still try to catch up on business. I just have to get the lost ones tomorrow at school.

Turns out I’m exempt from English finals too. Whee!
I’ve finally gotten started studying for my business finals. I figure if I study 5 handouts, today, tomorrow and Monday I’ll be finished studying “two days before the test”.:http://calnewport.com/blog/2008/04/29/my-world-famous-mechanical-exam-prep-process/
I’ve already started studying for my Equine Science final. I need to answer and study some more stuff though.
I also need to study for cumulative. I have a list of stuff that’s going to be there. I just have to find it.
I’m freaking out about Math. I tried to get some study guides from Mr. Hagan on Thursday but it was too late, he wasn’t there. I should probably just start studying the stuff in my binder.
I’ve already finished studying for one final. Whee!
Next Actions:
Gather study guides in my binder
Answer and study some more stuff in Equine Science

Whee! 18 months ago

I’m exempt from history finals (the teacher gives A students exemption)!
I’m not going to focus on studying for Mrs. Anema agricultural science because she takes the two grades (final and year) and gives the highest one. Since I’ve got an A already, I could reasonably flunk the final and still be good.
Studying for Ms. Young’s class is surprisingly easy.
I’ve still got to start studying for English. Equine science is pretty easy. I’ve already started filling out the review. I plan to ask a friend for help with it.
Studying for Math is really hard. I’ve written down the topics I need to know and pulled out some practice problems but they’re hard to do. I’ve written some questions to ask Mr. Hagan today.
Studying for business is probably going to take a long time. I still need to get started.
