    The bubbles of water under some of the places where the surface wasn’t frozen totally freaked me out. Apparently the ice underneath that pocket of water was a foot deep, though… so I was assured that I wasn’t going to fall all the way through.

    me too! ice skating on a frozen lake sounds like heaps of fun!! only problem is that i live in Australia. oh well, im only 13. some day ill grow up , travel to europe or canada, and find a frozen lake to skate on.

    Now, I have ice skated out doors. I went to Grouse Mountain, Vancouver. They have an outdoor skating area. Apparently it is a deck in the summer but during the winter it’s a skating rink. It’s small but suites its purpose. I think I’m going to have to up the ante and try to find a frozen lake for next time. I highly recommend the activity. It’s way nicer to be outside in the fresh air rather than in a rink with hockey equipment smell.
    Grouse is expensive though. It’s $30 to get up the mountain on the gondola if you are not a season pass holder and then $6 to rent skates.
