Wow, that was amazing! 4 weeks sailing on Sørlandet in the Baltic sea, partying with all the other crews when in harbour, it was all fantastic. I just cannot do it justice in words so I suggest you go and have a look at the pictures I came back with.

I booked my berth on Sørlandet last week to take part in the tall ships’ races in the Baltic sea in July. I can’t wait! Watch this space for pictures!
Sailing on a tall ship is an absolutely amazing experience and after I did it I wondered what could top it. I found out a few years later by taking part in what was at the time the Cutty Sark Tall Ship Races. Not only are you then sailing on a tall ship but you are racing against dozens of others! Being in the midst of a flotilla of such ships, amongst a forest of masts, is unforgettable. And then there’s the time in harbours, when you meet the crew of other vessels to paint the town red.
The Cutty Sark races don’t exist anymore but Sail Training International has taken up the job of organising such events.
