After three delays and much grovelling down the phone, I’ve pushed the test back one more time. This time until September the 18th after my dissertation and bestival, I might try and get it earlier if I’m feeling confident cos I’d really like to drive to the isle of white. Having said that doing the test with a clear mind would be really nice too! 3 years ago

vile_agoutiYEAH!!

I’ve done it! I’ve finally got my driver’s license! I passed the exam this Wednesday. I was just so nervous but the driving instructor was very nice!
So, voilà! I can now drive! 3 years ago

booked driving test, now all I need to do is practice and change my examination centre ASAP! Stopped having lessons with Dora, so I need to rebook on the week before the exam. 3 years ago

vile_agoutiwell...

I failed! I had my exam last week and I failed…never mind, I’ll try again in a couple of months I think! I just have to drive and drive!
But the exam guy was so horrible. He was very cold and unfriendly which just made me panick even more. 3 years ago

beetrootroxHopefully I'll have my licence by the end of summer

I’m not very good at driving, you see. Have been learning for almost 2 yesrs & haven’t taken my practical yet. I’m underconfident and a slow learner but I’m determined to do this! Just bought my first car and HATE walking past it every day! Passed my theory last year…fingers crossed! 3 years ago

vile_agoutiComing up

The date is approaching too rapidly! I’m sure I am ready, but I will probably be very nervous on the set date and that won’t help when I’m driving 3 years ago

Almost there, I reckon. 4 years ago

vile_agoutiGetting there

My driving instructor told me today she was really proud of how I was progressing. She said that she’ll book up an exam date in about 2 months, as the examiners are always booked up. This is so great!!! I’m really happy about it. And I know I’ve made a lot of progress, we still have to train the parkings and that’s about it.

I hope I pass it the first time round! (like that I could annoy my brother who passed it on the second time!!) 4 years ago

justonepersontime to book test!

instructor says i’m ready to book my test so need to do that in next few days. 4 years ago

hughdicksonPassed second time - this time I only had two minor faults

It’s all about finding a good quality instructor. It’s nearly as simple as that…

...One thing to check is whether the instructor follows the Drivers Record* (or something close to it). This is so you’re at Level 5 for each facet of the practical driving test, before your test.

If you have a limited budget, be clear on how much each session, not lesson, is going to cost. This includes taking into account ‘double’ lessons:

  • Let’s say each lesson/hour is £20. You decide to have two-hour sessions each time.
  • You need to remember that every time you meet with your instructor, it’s actually costing you £40 each time.

*Info on the Drivers Record can be found here:
