The second door finally got hung (in a jamb) – two weeks late – so I brought it home and installed it in under an hour so I could secure my suite before going out of town.
The second tenant is flying into town tonight, so I have a list of chores to complete before then. Including doing more work on the office so I can move my desk and computer downstairs, so I can continue working at getting a third tenant.
I’m already making noises about a second house…but not for another year or so. 8 months ago

Part of renting out the top floor of my house is moving into the basement and securing that suite. My second door is STILL not ready…so I just took my spare door slab (no jamb) and screwed two hinges to it and to one side of the rough opening.
I’m not really worried about the tenant I have here now – who left his room door unlocked and open when he left the house just now ergo he trusts me – but I have two to come, so I need to be able to lock my doors.
I’ll just attach a barrel bolt to the spare door for now, and put a proper lock in the first one, which is hung properly. The two doors (both in the same style) look great side by each. God is good!! :) 8 months ago

A funny thing happened to me last week. My first tenant flew into town on Thursday (I know, because it was choir night) and I showed him around town the next day. At the end of our drive, he asked me about churches when we were a few blocks from St. Mary’s. As I was telling him this, he said, “Because I’m Catholic”...and he noticed the Rosary hanging from my rear-view mirror.
So on Sunday, he and I and my mum and my gf (who is unfortunately not Catholic…yet! lol) all went to holy Mass together. God is good!! :) 8 months ago

I will send an application to the second tenant in a bit, so this is wonderful! :c) Not just for the money…I pray that this will be the start of a new phase in my life, one in which I will have greater choice in my work – and thus become closer to spending my life in those purposes which God has ordained for me from the beginning of time. Amen. :c) 8 months ago

I’ve rented out two properties, or portions of, twice before, but to people close to me. So it’s for real this time.
I showed the place (main floor of house) to a number of people last fall year, but never closed the deal. Just as well, I’m still trying to get the first two bedrooms done downstairs!! Never mind having bathroom facilities…lol!!
So I’m just going to rent out the three bedrooms individually. I have one tenant coming and another almost closed, and talking to one or two others. So that lets me use the upstairs master for a little longer while I work on basement. It also lets me use the bathroom!!!! lol After all, having finally finished it, I want to be able to enjoy my beautiful handiwork for a little while…
Even one room’s income will help substantially. But renting the whole kit ‘n’ kaboodle will allow me much more freedom in how much I work and at work. (See my goal of “Work because I want to, not because I have to”.) 8 months ago
