Apparently there’s a studio nearby here, but because of my ‘have a baby’ goal being in progress, I’ll have to wait until next summer. It can be part of my making myself hot after baby routine!

How I did it: I took a class once a week and learnt moves on the ground as well as on the pole. We learnt a routine to begin with. We learnt new moves every class to keep the interest up. Now im in level 3! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I looked for a studio that offered professional classes in my area and signed up for a 6 week session. Once you finish the first session, it's really easy to sign up for the next level and keep progressing with your dance skills. Read how I did it…

I finally did a spin – a real spin – last night! Oh my goodness, what a THRILL! I was drunk off it.
Round and round and round and round. Switch sides. Spin again and again and again. You feel like you are flying. It’s addicting. I went 23 years without this? HOW? I sure can’t go back now!
The night before I worked off some stress with my pole and I expected to be fairly battered up the next morning. Lo and behold, there are considerably less bruises than I was counting on. Sweet.

pole burns suck.
But I’m definitely getting stronger. I can now climb the pole – and this from someone who has never been able to do a chin up. Progress, progress. (:

My mom gave me a book today! She said she was going to give it to me later as a family holiday gift, but she babysat Gabriel for us the other day and saw the pole, and knew she just couldn’t wait.
The book is “The S Factor: Strip Workouts for Every Woman,” by Sheila Kelley.
The first 165 pages I’ve skimmed, as it’s just stripping dance, but 166-210 is pole dancing. She even recommends some music!
In the intro to pole dancing, she writes “I love my pole. If it were up to me, every woman in America would have one. Nothing gives you a sense of power or freedom like pole work. You feel like you’re a sexual goddess, a kid, and a superhero all at once.”
Further on in her intro, she says “On it (the pole), you will come as close to flying as humanly possible.”
I’m not sure I agree with that statement, as I have had the exhilaration of riding an ex-racer Thoroughbred at a flat gallop… but I’d be thrilled if I am proven wrong!
The book looks fun already (a section on how to choose your stripper name! LOL!), and I’m sure it will be a great help. There is a move called the Firefly I particularly can hardly wait to try.
I’m not as sore today, either. I think pole dancing is a lot like archery muscles – you gain them fast!
A few tips that come to mind already are
BARE SKIN! One place suggested to wear yoga pants and shoes to start. What the? If anything, wear shorts and socks, but certainly not pants, and I would go barefoot.
Bare hands! I’ve stopped wearing my wedding band for now. Every time I am in the room, I’ll swing around on it, so remembering to take it off each time will be a nuisance.

I feel like I’ve been beat up. My neck is stiff and sore, my arms are sore, even my chest is sore! Plus I fell on my butt, so that’s a bit sore, too, and my two bruises.
YAY! I take it that is a good thing! :D
Then I was out helping my mom to sex her young rabbits and one scratched me good. It’s a four inch clawmark right down my left wrist, but touching slightly onto my palm. If it was deeper, it would look like I was trying to kill myself. I hope it doesn’t scar.

Sunday night Tommy was away for his weekly DnD game, and he arrived home to a very smug looking me. I had rearranged the entire bedroom by myself while he was out. The bed had to be flipped to go along the opposite wall, the dresser and everything else had to be shuffled around – it was quite the job, let me tell you!
Monday was another DnD game. (HE is DMing this time, though, in a world of his and I’s creation!) But tonight he had nothing else to do so he was able to put it up for me.
You can see what my pole looks like in this video. If you look at the base of it, you can see why it will be problematic. If I slide down it too far, I will get all scraped up, so I’ll have to be careful!
Now, I’m off to get bruised up!

Tommy completely surprised me and bought me a dance pole tonight! I have ALWAYS wanted to learn how to do this!
I have the best husband EVER!

I’m saving my money for a Lil Mynx pole. With shipping its about $300. In the mean time I’m working on my flexibility and upper body strength.
Just finished my first lesson, I had so much fun!
Granted I am now bruised from head to toe and have even ripped off a bit of skin on the inside of my arm (pole-burn?!), but I can not wait till my next class next week :-)
