This will be a book for ages 12 and up, or so. Although, truly my 9 year old could read it- but she’s a strong reader.
I have loads of ideas sketched out for the plot, and I’ll need to do some research as I get a bit further in.
The first chapter, of course is character and setting introduction.
Starling DeVries and her family arrive at Justice House.
I’m going to try and write for a few hours each night. If I can manage this while keeping a full schedule at college, and while keeping up with the little person and the housework, I think I’ll be doing well.
I’m excited, though. I read Erin what I have so far, and she loved it. Handy, I think. She’s going to be my little test audience.

I finished a second activity book for kids! But, once again, it’s a VERY small publication. Just 1000 copies. I’d love to do another one someday and really put it on the market. We’ll see.

Iv’e started a few stories on my two main characters. Mini Ella and Little Penguin. Mini Ella is a baby about 4in tall with a larger than life heart and way about herself. Her companion is an equally small baby Penguin. My book will be about all their adventures in the adult world and how they see it, respond to it and make it amazing! I love them, they always cheer me up ;)

since been given a nephew, I would love to write something he would be captivated and inspired. As a child my fondest memories consist of the stories I read or had read to me

that I’ve really always wanted to do. A well written childrens story can stay with a person for their whole life, and that to me is an amazing thought. I remember as a child being captivated by titles such as “where the wild things are”, or “Ferdinand the Bull”, or “The Berenstein Bears”, or counteless others. When my (ex)wife was pregnant with our first, she bought me a kit for writing a childs story, but I had no idea what to write, and never got around to it. But I think I’ll try and sit down one day soon and really give this a shot. I think theres still enough kid in me to be able to pull this off, lol. I hope so anyways. :)

I would like to be able to bring a new chapter (or part of one) for my July 5 writer’s meeting, since I’ve been focusing on my adult work for the past 2 meetings.
With the prep for my classes, and the adoption paperwork, I am going to have to be VERY careful about my time management to be able to do this, but I want to make it a priority.

AwakenMe is taking things one step at a time
and now its just putting them together. It is a lot harder then I anticipated. But that is ok. I think what I really need to do is go to the library or bookstore and refresh my memory on the format and language. I have not been reading as many since I stopped being a nanny to my niece and nephew when they went back to florida (and I stayed back in Toronto for school). But I am confident I will figure it out. :)

This is ahuge project, perhaps because I’ve got about three seperate stories going all at once. I’m almost done with my first one that I am planning on send to a publisher within the month. If that doens’t work I’ll try the POD route, publishing on demand, just so I can go through the experience. Life really is about experiences and trying different things seeing what you can do if you are willing to risk it. Nothing ventured noting gained – besides it’s not as scary as those guys on Deadliest Catch, it’s sending a childrens book off to a publisher, not risking my life in the Bearing Sea.
