I believe in waiting until marriage. But it feels weird when both of my parents dont think sex is a big deal. They’re just like ’’ been there, done that’’. I guess that teenagers would be glad to have parents with an opinion like that, but I’m not. I don’t like having my brother bring girls to the house, and have sex in the room next door.
I just feel like I’m the only person doing this. You know when people make weird faces when they hear you’re a virgin? Yeah, it bothers me.
Or whenever you’re with a guy, he thinks he’ll have the honor or taking it. Um I don’t think so. I feel like I’m just something for them to conquer after finding out I’m a virgin.
It’s just so hard to find a guy who’s willing to wait these days. And it’d be nice to have parents that have done the same thing.
But I know what I believe in and that’s enough =)

How to wait until marriage

 "Hard work at times, but definitely worth waiting."
How I did it: How did I accomplish this one? The most important thing was understanding why it was important to me. I did a course at church which taught me a lot about relationships, and in particular the bible's words about relationships and sex. Practical stuff, but stuff they don't usually preach about on a Sunday from the pulpit! The thing that stuck with me the most was the teacher saying that if you sleep with someone, part of you changes, and you can't ever change that back again. They have a part of you and you have a part of them. That's something that you want to share only with someone who you know is going to be with you forever. Getting over a breakup with someone you've slept with is muuuuch harder than someone you haven't slept with. I know that waiting made me and my fiance stronger people. We learned a lot about patience! We learned to deal with lust, and get over it. I have an incredible amount of trust in him now that he won't be overcome with lust for someone else, because I've seen how well he can control himself, and him me. I know that in 50 years or so we'll be too old to be sleeping together anyway! So it was important to me to find someone who I knew I was compatible with on a friendship level. I've heard a lot of people say that you have to sleep with each other before marriage because otherwise how will you know if you're compatible sexually? Lame! If you're best, best friends and totally love each other, then after you're married the sex will be amazing because you'll have total trust in each other. You need to find out if you're compatible fullstop. Find out if your dreams align, if your vision for the future matches up, if you have the same goals and beliefs. Don't let lust get in the way of finding these things out first. Plus we only had 6 months from when we were engaged to when we were married so it wasn't all that long to wait! Lessons & tips: Have an understanding of why you are waiting. If you can articulate your reasons, you'll be more likely to stick to the goal. Talk things through with your partner, make sure you're both on the same page! Don't get into situations that you know will tempt you. Don't make it harder on yourself or your partner than you need too. Good luck :-)

The only thing that will UN-fail this in my mind is if I end up marrying my girlfriend. I don’t think either of us feel like that yet, however. We’re celebrating our first anniversary as girlfriend/boyfriend this month. We still have issues (probably more on my side) but can definitely enjoy the special occasions. Right now, I feel like I won’t marry her which is why the sense of failure is strong.
It got REALLY heavy at times a couple months ago when I felt a huge rift between us. Like suicidal-heavy.
Oh, I also turn 32 in a couple weeks. So I lasted 31 years…well, actually LESS since you can’t really count before puberty when our lives were so much more simple and challenges were something like whether or not you could finish your vegetables.
I have been dating the most wonderful man I have ever met. Through a series of God events we met and fell in love. We both want to wait until we get married to have sex but its got to be the hardest thing we have ever tried to do. Both of us have never really dated. Im 23 and he is 28. Our goals in life are the same. Our love for God is the same. Our want to please Him and be true to each other before Him is what we want most. However, in the moment when the world seems to fade into the background and all that we can see is each other it becomes near to impossible to want to wait. We have slipped up a few times but we are determined not to go all the way yet. I believe that God will be faithful to help us if we are willing to do this the right way. So for now we wait in anticipation for the better things to come and fall more in love everyday.

I made a promise to God that i would remain a virgin until marriage. I don’t have a boyfriend yet. I’ve been through so much and emotionally, i don’t think i could handle sex without being married. God wants us to have one partner forever. Sex is the highest level to intimacy. Think about it. When two people have sex they become ‘one flesh’. Can you imagine that amazing experience on your wedding night? We will become ‘one’ and that bond will be sooo strong. Imagine becoming one flesh with someone you wont spend the rest of your life with. It’s really hard for me to get over something and i don’t think i could deal with that emotional pain. I think this is an amazing goal.
My pledge : ‘I make a commitment to God, myself, my family, those I date and my future mate to be sexually pure until the day i enter a marriage relationship. I will keep my thoughts pure as i trust in God’s perfect plan for my life.’

It’s going to be really difficult but i know we all can do it!!!!
My ex boyfriend of 2 years used to tell me that sex was such a natural thing that I was depriving both of us of. He said that it would be amazing for us to do it and that he didn’t understand why I would hold back if I loved him so back. I caved into oral a few times, but only for a minute or two each time and told him I didn’t want to go any further with it or any other sexual action. He broke up with me, and although we are still friends and I am very much in love with him, I feel so guilty.
I have always wanted to wait till I was married and I still do and will wait, but this oral thing is really bothering me and eating away at me…I don’t want to have to explain this to my next boyfriend, I just feel so bad.

I’m so excited. This is definitely a huge step toward this goal! Whoohoo we’re getting married next summer. It’ll be interesting to see how this goal gets easier or more difficult during this next year.
