I have always wanted to visit Scotland.

I want to visit castles and wiskey distilleries as well as historical places through out scotland.
I have seen many pictures of Scotland and am completely drawn to it. I must get to Scotland. One thing I want to see for sure when I am there is this group of people made of stone sitting in a circle laughing and happy. I want my picture taken sitting on one of their laps if its possible. I have no idea where the statues are though. But I do have a picture of them haning in my bathroom to keep the dream alive. I will try to get a picture here so someone may be able to help me figure out where it is.

I recently finished a rather popular book called Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and am currently reading the seriies of books that follow. Outlander takes place in Scotland and I totally fell in love with it – and since it’s a historical novel, it’ll be neat to see the places (first-hand) that the author uses for her book. I also majored in Geography so I’m a total greenery type – Scotland seems like the right place for a person like me :D. I really cannot wait to go!
I feel as if an ancient past calls to me to visit Scotland. I don’t know if I actually want to go there in present time or if I am just trying to find my way back to another time. I suppose I’ll figure it out better if I actually get myself over yonder!

What a beautiful country. And what amazing people! My ex-boyfriend was Scottish, and I visited there twice. Fell out of love with the guy, but am still madly devoted to the country!
The sense of history, the fantastic landscapes, the warmth and friendliness of everyone I met – wonderful. The weather is cold and often slushy, but I found it tolerable on balance with everything else.
I didn’t get to see as much of Scotland as I wanted, a problem I do intend to remedy as soon as I can manage – with my husband of two years. :) In the meantime, city adventurers can’t go wrong with beautiful Edinburgh. Tons of great shops and dining, including the best Indian food I’ve ever had. And if you have a chance to enjoy a ceilidh (party with traditional dancing), don’t miss it…especially if you enjoy kilted knees!
Both my visits included Hogmanay (New Year’s), and the celebrations are an unbelievable experience. I rang in 2002 on the Princes Street in Edinburgh – thousands of revelers from all over the world, and I felt as safe as if I were at home on my couch.
I have realized that I love Scotland. I love the countryside, the people, everything about it. You should fly into Manchester, England and take the train up to Edinburgh. Seeing the countryside as you travel by train is well worth the time it will take to get you there (about 4 hours)!
The MW bed and breakfast in Edinburgh is a nice fairly cheap place. Take some time to just rest and relax in Prince Street Gardens. See the castle. Best time was riding on the back of a friend’s motorcycle at 100mph through the Borders.
