wasmith21 back to work...more files to transfer. Yipee
I have returned some seriously overdue books to KC Library and paid my fines. I have a few books out from JOCO library. Maybe I will take them back tonight :-)
How I did it: I decided to switch to a local branch, that way it would be easier to get there in time. I also started checking my account online, and extending books as much as possible. The limit is 5 extends, so I try to extend until I am able to return the books on time.

film_student4u just updated my list
Not only did I check out more books than I was actually able to read, but they also happen to be late!. I guess the bright side to all of this, is that next time I know what areas to focus on for studying (which, were not the areas a majority of my books were in).
today House of Leaves was due, so i walked to the library (which accomplished another goal) and dropped it off.
while i was there, i picked up How It All Vegan and How It All Vegan Again – two vegan cookbooks written by very hip, very open minded girls. I also took out You Are Your Choices, and Th!nk, a rebuttal of Bl!nk, which i’ve never read.
it was SO NICE to not have to hand over five or six bucks when taking the books out. i think i will return things on time more often :)
next due date: 5/30
my books are late about 80% of the time. even when i was at school, those books were late. i’ve spent probably more than $50 on late fees in the last two years. sometimes it’s months between library visits because i know that i owe them $5 or $10 and i couldn’t be bothered to actually hand over the money when it could be put toward something better (like actually buying a book that i can keep.)
right now i’ve got one book out that is dur on May 9th. it’s House of Leaves and it’s 709 pages, so rather than return it before May 9th, i want to at least renew it online.
i’m going to utilize the Remind Me feature of 43things for once so i don’t forget.
I have been doing pretty good on this goal, I had only one small fine in the past year, due to a book getting misplaced. The printouts at the library help. I write the due date in large numbers(including the weekday due)and keep it visible on my fridge.

and return my dvds on time.. i easily spent over 100$ in fines last year.. and about less than 10$ this year!!
Am usually quite organised, just seem to have a psychological block when it comes to returning library books…I’m BLACKLISTED at my local library, have had to pay extortionate fines over the years…it was starting to be cheaper to buy the books in the first place. but no more! i WILL return books on time! and give the library clerk a heart attack in the process probably…
Have been more organised and not had to pay a fine of late so this can now make way for a more interesting goal.
So, I returned some books to the library today-they were two months late. Completely unacceptable and I know this. I tell myself that the late fees are a unique way of supporting the library, but its’ got to stop. Limited myself to checking out three books due over the next three weeks, so I am really going to try to do better.
