When I was pregnant with my firstborn (I don’t have a second child in the world yet, but she’s making gradual preparations to join us), I disliked the taste of coffee. Mercifully, I didn’t experience any withdrawal symptoms, like a huge headache or moodiness. I had tried to quit drinking in the past, with very bad results and no success. Some time after I quit nursing my firstborn exclusively, well, probably later than that, I started drinking coffee again. But not daily.
I love not being addicted to caffeine. Freedom! I had consumed so much caffeine (coffee to be more specific) that drinking coffee before going to sleep didn’t affect my sleep at all. Could roll over and go to sleep after drinking coffee.
Now, if I drink coffee late afternoon, my evening sleep doesn’t come easy. In fact, I’ll find myself wide awake until well after midnight. I try not to consume coffee more than once a week and I attempt to consume it morning or early afternoon, if at all.
