Yesterday, my friend Susi came over so we could catch up and watch the Germany-Ecuador match together. We ate nachos with rasped cheese and self made salsa and chanted “Deutschla-aaand” three times when the Germans scored. My Dutch neighbours know they have a German in their midst. Susi, bf and I also drank a few (Dutch) beers and had tons of laughs. ‘t was great to have her over. The pic shows Miroslav Klose’s salto when scoring, which we completely missed because we were chatting too much.

Had a teaparty the weekend of Valentine’s Day, and now tonight I’m going to a sleepover… I have to make plans more often I think!

Artist: Schneider Helge
Song: Fitze Fitze Fatze
Refrain:
Fitze Fitze Fatze, Fitze Fitze Fatz.
Fitze Fitze Fatze, Fitze Fitze Fatz.
Fitze Fitze Fatze, Fitze Fitze Fatz.
Fitze Fitze Fatz.
Bist du einmal traurig auf der Welt,
sing Fitze Fatze, wie es dir gefällt.
Dann kommen Freunde von alleine
Sie singen alle mit dir Fitze Fatze.
Refrain
Die Welt ist ein Jammertal ohne Musik
Doch zum Glück gab es Bach, Beethoven, Händel und Goethe
Sie kommen alle in unserer Musik vor
Die Töne von ihnen, sie sind sehr gut.

I went to see Susi in her new appartment (which she’s lived in since I-don’t-know-when). She had a wonderful hot bowl of homemade soup for me, and while her bf was working on her promo DVD with video bits from her performances, Susi and I caught up and watched Nina Hagen videos together, stuff her bf’s friends have downloaded (mostly Bootsy Collins, James Brown (and his Celebrity Hot Tub!, click the link and roll on the floor laughing!
Sly and the Family Stone, etc., etc., and other REAL funk). We also discussed Helge Schneider, whose genious none of you none-native German speakers will ever be able to dig. (Now, there’s a slag…)
Anyway, I am glad Susi’s happy, successful and finer than ever.

Susi and I called last night and chatted a while, but it’s nowhere as fun as seeing her face to face, so we made an appointment for friday evening.
I am glad I rang her again, it turned out she was ill! Poor thing…

Susi and I used to share an appartment and she is my best friend here in Amsterdam. She also plays the saxophone (we used to study music together at the conservatory here), and today, she is an accomplished musician (contrary to me ;o))
The afternoon in the Blue Teahouse in Vondelpark turned into a long evening, and by the time we cycled home, I was slightly tipsy, which didn’t help much as it was freezing and you try ride a bicycle on icy ground!
I hope to see Susi this week or the coming week, I have left a message already to initiate new arrangements.
Check out Susi’s website and her CD samples!

I emailed two friends I haven’t seen in ages, so maybe we both find the time soon…

I promised myself I’d go straight to see her when she texts me the next time. So Monday, I got a message from her and left the house to see her within 15 minutes. I had said no for so many times, even her birthday!!!, that I really HAD to go. She was so sweet and happy to see me. I also got to meet her new bf so that was a good occasion, too.

I want to see the ladies more often, and I have found too many excuses over the last couple of months. Getting out of my comfy couch will be essential. Surfing the net is not helping…
